Ultimate Kitchens & Bathrooms
This bathroom is situated on the second floor of an apartment overlooking Albert Park Beach. The bathroom has a window view and the owners wanted to ensure a relaxed feeling was created in this space drawing on the elements of the ocean, with the organic forms. Raw materials like the pebble stone floor, concrete basins and bath were carefully selected to blend seamlessly and create a muted colour palette.
Tactile forms engage the user in an environment that is atypical to the clinical/ white space most expect. The pebble floor, with the addition of under floor heating, adds a sensory element pertaining to a day spa.

This Waukesha bathroom remodel was unique because the homeowner needed wheelchair accessibility. We designed a beautiful master bathroom and met the client’s ADA bathroom requirements.
Original Space
The old bathroom layout was not functional or safe. The client could not get in and out of the shower or maneuver around the vanity or toilet. The goal of this project was ADA accessibility.
ADA Bathroom Requirements
All elements of this bathroom and shower were discussed and planned. Every element of this Waukesha master bathroom is designed to meet the unique needs of the client. Designing an ADA bathroom requires thoughtful consideration of showering needs.
Open Floor Plan – A more open floor plan allows for the rotation of the wheelchair. A 5-foot turning radius allows the wheelchair full access to the space.
Doorways – Sliding barn doors open with minimal force. The doorways are 36” to accommodate a wheelchair.
Curbless Shower – To create an ADA shower, we raised the sub floor level in the bedroom. There is a small rise at the bedroom door and the bathroom door. There is a seamless transition to the shower from the bathroom tile floor.
Grab Bars – Decorative grab bars were installed in the shower, next to the toilet and next to the sink (towel bar).
Handheld Showerhead – The handheld Delta Palm Shower slips over the hand for easy showering.
Shower Shelves – The shower storage shelves are minimalistic and function as handhold points.
Non-Slip Surface – Small herringbone ceramic tile on the shower floor prevents slipping.
ADA Vanity – We designed and installed a wheelchair accessible bathroom vanity. It has clearance under the cabinet and insulated pipes.
Lever Faucet – The faucet is offset so the client could reach it easier. We installed a lever operated faucet that is easy to turn on/off.
Integrated Counter/Sink – The solid surface counter and sink is durable and easy to clean.
ADA Toilet – The client requested a bidet toilet with a self opening and closing lid. ADA bathroom requirements for toilets specify a taller height and more clearance.
Heated Floors – WarmlyYours heated floors add comfort to this beautiful space.
Linen Cabinet – A custom linen cabinet stores the homeowners towels and toiletries.
Style
The design of this bathroom is light and airy with neutral tile and simple patterns. The cabinetry matches the existing oak woodwork throughout the home.

This elegant bathroom is a combination of modern design and pure lines. The use of white emphasizes the interplay of the forms. Although is a small bathroom, the layout and design of the volumes create a sensation of lightness and luminosity.

Before this shower was extremely dangerous for my clients. It contained a step down to get into the shower. For an 55+ community this is not safe. We designed it to be safe easy transitional flow getting into the shower and out of the shower. We eliminated the curb and the step down recessed floor. We raised the floor flush with the current floor and made the shower floor slope towards the drain. We also bumped out and enlarged the shower for added room. As you can see to enhance the value we ran the porcelain tile and accent tile mosaic all the way up to the ceiling. We added 2 wall niches for the clients shampoos, soaps and accessories. We added the flexibility of the teak bench for comfort and functional use. We added grab bar for client's safety.
Cabinet-S-Top
In this bathroom we installed Waypoint LivingSpaces Oak 650F door vanity with Cultured marble countertops. An American Standard Acrylic freestanding tub was installed with Delta floor mount tub filler with hand shower in stainless. Moen plumbing fixtures in brushed nickel includes two high arc single handle vanity faucet, shower faucet, hand shower on slide bar, with 3 24” grab bars, 2 – 24” towel bars, 3 robe hooks and toilet tissue holder. Kichler 4 light bath light in brushed nickel was hung over the sinks. On the shower and flooring is a mixture of two different types of 12”x12” tiles. The Blue/Gray tile was used on the main floor and the Almond was used under the tube with a border that transitions the two. The shower walls are a mixture of 12’=”x12” tiles and a double row of accent border tiles. A semi-frameless swing door and panel enclosure in brushed nickel finish.

The homeowner was looking for a simple update to this 1970's bathroom. We did a complete remodel, removed the tub to create a shower only, and updated the vanity, lighting, and flooring.
