DOWNLOAD NOW   This client came to us in a bit of a panic when she realized that she really wanted her bathroom to be updated by March 1st due to having 2 daughters getting married in the spring and one graduating. We were only about 5 months out from that date, but decided we were up for the challenge. The beautiful historical home was built in 1896 by an ornithologist (bird expert), so we took our cues from that as a starting point. The flooring is a vintage basket weave of marble and limestone, the shower walls of the tub shower conversion are clad in subway tile with a vintage feel. The lighting, mirror and plumbing fixtures all have a vintage vibe that feels both fitting and up to date. To give a little of an eclectic feel, we chose a custom green paint color for the linen cabinet, mushroom paint for the ship lap paneling that clads the walls and selected a vintage mirror that ties in the color from the existing door trim. We utilized some antique trim from the home for the wainscot cap for more vintage flavor. The drama in the bathroom comes from the wallpaper and custom shower curtain, both in William Morris’s iconic “Strawberry Thief” print that tells the story of thrushes stealing fruit, so fitting for the home’s history. There is a lot of this pattern in a very small space, so we were careful to make sure the pattern on the wallpaper and shower curtain aligned. A sweet little bird tie back for the shower curtain completes the story... Création d’un grand appartement familial avec espace parental et son studio indépendant suite à la réunion de deux lots. Une rénovation importante est effectuée et l’ensemble des espaces est restructuré et optimisé avec de nombreux rangements sur mesure. Les espaces sont ouverts au maximum pour favoriser la vue vers l’extérieur.

Pour cet appartement de 40m², arkala a pris un parti pris fou : installer une chambre dans l’ancienne salle de bain afin de préserver une pièce à vivre spacieuse et agréable de 25m². Une gageure pour un appartement des années 30' très bien conçu et distribué pour un deux pièces. Ainsi l’entrée avec dressing, la cuisine, le WC, le salle d’eau et la chambre, sont rassemblées dans les 15m² restant ! La douche est calée dans les anciens WC, la salle d’eau et le WC sont dans l’ancien couloir de distribution : ces petits espaces ont été optimisés et ne sacrifient rien aux fonctions techniques qui sont pensées de façon ergonomique. L’espace nuit est conçu comme un lit clos tapissé de bois de bouleau pour un confort cosy, sans oublier l’éclairage indirect et direct pour la lecture et la possibilité de rangements en dessous du podium et une niche sous la fenêtre. La pièce de séjour est magnifiée par la pose d’un panoramique végétal et exotique « Le Brésil » reproduction d’un papier peint de la Manufacture Desfossé de 1862 !

Though the renovated bathroom closely resembles the original space and its art deco styling, we replaced the tub with a shower, added storage, and wrapped everything in a two-tone zellige tile finish.

La simplicité était le maitre mot de cette salle de bain en camaïeu de gris. Comme vous pouvez le voir sur les photos « avant » nous avons considérablement modifié cette cette de bain. Cela est passé en grande partie pour la démolition de l’estrade. Ce qui permet de mettre tous les éléments au même niveau pour facilité la déambulation. Cette nouvelle disposition permet aussi de moderniser l’ensemble de la pièce. Grâce à différentes nuances de gris, de textures et de faïences , nous avons pu réaliser une salle de bain simple et moderne. Une sorte de zonage à été créer grâce aux carreaux de faïence. Par exemple, la douche dispose de son propre espace avec des carreaux beaucoup plus détaillés. De plus, il sont d’un coloris tirant plus vers de noir et le foncé. Cela permet d’assombrir l’espace pour mieux le définir. L’aspect brut de ces carreaux en camaïeu de gris donne une allure plutôt brute et froide de cette salle de bain. Ce qui sera contrecarré par des éléments de décorations chauds, tels que linge de bain, etc. Les éléments étant contre les murs permettent un flux de passage simple et efficace. Ils permettent de créer une pièce au volume plus important et plus spacieux. Les miroirs permettent de renvoyer directement la lumière qui arrive de la fenêtre. Celle-ci met ainsi en valeur tous les coins de cette salle de bain. Le miroir de plein pied est incrusté directement entre les carreaux de faïence afin que celui ci ne se démarque pas en rentre complètement dans la continuité du mur.
