THE SETUP Located in a luxury high rise in Chicago’s Gold Coast Neighborhood, the condo’s existing primary bath was “fine,” but a bit underwhelming. It was a sea of beige, with very little personality or drama. The client is very well traveled, and wanted the space to feel luxe and glamorous, like a bath in a fine European hotel. Design objectives: - Add loads of beautiful high end finishes - Create drama and contrast - Create luxe showering and bathing experiences - Improve storage for toiletries and essentials THE REMODEL Design challenges: - Unable to reconfigure layout due to location in the high rise - Seek out unique, dramatic tile materials - Introduce “BLING” - Find glamorous lighting Design solutions: - Keep existing layout, with change from built in to free-standing tub - Gorgeous Calacatta gold marble was our inspiration - Ornate Art deco marble mosaic to be the focal point, with satin gold accents to create shimmer - Glass and crystal light fixtures add the needed sparkle THE RENEWED SPACE After the remodel began, our client’s vision for her bath took a turn that was inspired by a trip to Paris. Initially, the plan was a modest design to allocate resources for her kitchen’s marble slabs… but then she had a vision while admiring the marble bathroom of her Parisian hotel. She was determined to infuse her bathroom with the same sense of luxury. They went back to the drawing board and started over with all-marble. Her new stunning bath space radiates glamour and sophistication. The “bling” flows to her bedroom where we matched the gorgeous custom wall treatment that mimics grasscloth on an accent wall. With its marble landscape, shimmering tile and walls, the primary bath’s ambiance creates a swanky hotel feel that our client adores and considers her sanctuary.

Innovative Design Build was hired to renovate a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo in the prestigious Symphony building in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The project included a full renovation of the kitchen, guest bathroom and primary bathroom. We also did small upgrades throughout the remainder of the property. The goal was to modernize the property using upscale finishes creating a streamline monochromatic space. The customization throughout this property is vast, including but not limited to: a hidden electrical panel, popup kitchen outlet with a stone top, custom kitchen cabinets and vanities. By using gorgeous finishes and quality products the client is sure to enjoy his home for years to come.

The master bathroom in this Bloomfield Hills home was in need of an overhaul. The room was previously cut up with an awkward layout featuring the heavily-mirrored, “Hollywood lights” look of the 1980s. Staying within the footprint of the room and moving walls to open the floor plan created a roomy uncluttered feel, which opened directly off of the master bedroom. Granting access to two separate his and hers closets, the entryway allows for a gracious amount of tall utility storage and an enclosed Asko stacked washer and dryer for everyday use. A gorgeous wall hung vanity with dual sinks and waterfall Caesarstone Mitered 2 1/4″ square edge countertop adds to the modern feel and drama that the homeowners were hoping for. As if that weren’t storage enough, the custom shallow wall cabinetry and mirrors above offer over ten feet of storage! A 90-degree turn and lowered seating area create an intimate space with a backlit mirror for personal styling. The room is finished with Honed Diana Royal Marble on all of the heated floors and matching polished marble on the walls. Satin finish Delta faucets and personal shower system fit the modern design perfectly. This modern bathroom oasis encompasses many elements that speak of minimalism, luxury and even industrial design. The white vessel sinks and freestanding modern bathtub give the room a slick and polished appearance, while the exposed piping and black hanging lights provide some aesthetic diversity. Situated within a Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea conservation area, this unique home was most recently remodelled in the 1990s by the Manser Practice and is comprised of two perpendicular townhouses connected by an L-shaped glazed link. Initially tasked with remodelling the house’s living, dining and kitchen areas, Studio Bua oversaw a seamless extension and refurbishment of the wider property, including rear extensions to both townhouses, as well as a replacement of the glazed link between them. The design, which responds to the client’s request for a soft, modern interior that maximises available space, was led by Studio Bua’s ex-Manser Practice principal Mark Smyth. It combines a series of small-scale interventions, such as a new honed slate fireplace, with more significant structural changes, including the removal of a chimney and threading through of a new steel frame. Studio Bua, who were eager to bring new life to the space while retaining its original spirit, selected natural materials such as oak and marble to bring warmth and texture to the otherwise minimal interior. Also, rather than use a conventional aluminium system for the glazed link, the studio chose to work with specialist craftsmen to create a link in lacquered timber and glass. The scheme also includes the addition of a stylish first-floor terrace, which is linked to the refurbished living area by a large sash window and features a walk-on rooflight that brings natural light to the redesigned master suite below. In the master bedroom, a new limestone-clad bathtub and bespoke vanity unit are screened from the main bedroom by a floor-to-ceiling partition, which doubles as hanging space for an artwork. Studio Bua’s design also responds to the client’s desire to find new opportunities to display their art collection. To create the ideal setting for artist Craig-Martin’s neon pink steel sculpture, the studio transformed the boiler room roof into a raised plinth, replaced the existing rooflight with modern curtain walling and worked closely with the artist to ensure the lighting arrangement perfectly frames the artwork. Le projet : Un appartement familial de 135m2 des années 80 sans style ni charme, avec une petite cuisine isolée et désuète bénéficie d’une rénovation totale au style affirmé avec une grande cuisine semi ouverte sur le séjour, un véritable espace parental, deux chambres pour les enfants avec salle de bains et bureau indépendant. Notre solution : Nous déposons les cloisons en supprimant une chambre qui était attenante au séjour et ainsi bénéficier d’un grand volume pour la pièce à vivre avec une cuisine semi ouverte de couleur noire, séparée du séjour par des verrières. Une crédence en miroir fumé renforce encore la notion d’espace et une banquette sur mesure permet d’ajouter un coin repas supplémentaire souhaité convivial et simple pour de jeunes enfants. Le salon est entièrement décoré dans les tons bleus turquoise avec une bibliothèque monumentale de la même couleur, prolongée jusqu’à l’entrée grâce à un meuble sur mesure dissimulant entre autre le tableau électrique. Le grand canapé en velours bleu profond configure l’espace salon face à la bibliothèque alors qu’une grande table en verre est entourée de chaises en velours turquoise sur un tapis graphique du même camaïeu. Nous avons condamné l’accès entre la nouvelle cuisine et l’espace nuit placé de l’autre côté d’un mur porteur. Nous avons ainsi un grand espace parental avec une chambre et une salle de bains lumineuses. Un carrelage mural blanc est posé en chevrons, et la salle de bains intégre une grande baignoire double ainsi qu’une douche à l’italienne. Celle-ci bénéficie de lumière en second jour grâce à une verrière placée sur la cloison côté chambre. Nous avons créé un dressing en U, fermé par une porte coulissante de type verrière. Les deux chambres enfants communiquent directement sur une salle de bains aux couleurs douces et au carrelage graphique. L’ancienne cuisine, placée près de l’entrée est aménagée en chambre d’amis-bureau avec un canapé convertible et des rangements astucieux. Le style : L’appartement joue les contrastes et ose la couleur dans les espaces à vivre avec un joli bleu turquoise associé à un noir graphique affirmé sur la cuisine, le carrelage au sol et les verrières. Les espaces nuit jouent d’avantage la sobriété dans des teintes neutres. L’ensemble allie style et simplicité d’usage, en accord avec le mode de vie de cette famille parisienne très active avec de jeunes enfants.
