In this Lake View bathroom, we kept the floorplan and not much else. The main feature is the custom walk-in shower, with beveled white subway tiles, corner bench, and framed niche. There are a luxurious 3 showerheads: standard, rainfall, and handheld. With smooth curves and a modern brushed nickel finish, the shower fixtures are environmentally conscious and ADA compliant. The shower floor is a porcelain 2×2 hexagon mosaic with a marble print. This gives you the look of expensive stone, but without the maintenance and slipping of the real thing. The tile coordinates with the statuary classique quartz used on the vanity counter, which also has a polished marble print to it, and the bracket wall shelves which are real marble (though you can hardly tell the difference by looking). The Bertch vanity is a dark cherry shale finish to give some contrast in the white bathroom, with shaker doors and an undermount sink. The original bathroom was lacking in storage, so we took down the extra-wide mirror. In its place, we have those open shelves and an oval mirrored medicine cabinet, recessed so you can’t even tell it’s hiding all that storage. And speaking of hidden features, the bathroom is behind a pocket door, thus saving some extra floor space. Finally, that flooring. The tile is a Turkish Stratford porcelain tile, 8×8 with matte finish. This adds some small details while giving that pop of color people love. Further, the bronze tones in the tile help tie in the dark vanity.

The original house was demolished to make way for a two-story house on the sloping lot, with an accessory dwelling unit below. The upper level of the house, at street level, has three bedrooms, a kitchen and living room. The “great room” opens onto an ocean-view deck through two large pocket doors. The master bedroom can look through the living room to the same view. The owners, acting as their own interior designers, incorporated lots of color with wallpaper accent walls in each bedroom, and brilliant tiles in the bathrooms, kitchen, and at the fireplace tiles in the bathrooms, kitchen, and at the fireplace. Removed the garden tub and replaced it with this Jetta acrylic free standing tub. Removed the wall separating the shower from the old garden tub and expanded the shower and enclosed it with this frameless shower door. Replaced the old white tile with this porcelain wood grain tile.

This jetted tub has a great view outside, and can handle as much splashing as you like, as everything drains into the shower. Actually a double shower with shower heads on both sides! Great design by 2form architecture. Awesome shower!

The customer fell in love with the glass and stone hexagon tile, but to keep the project in budget we chose a less expensive oversized subway tile with glass linear pencil to keep the cost in check.

Roger Scheck This bathroom remodel was featured on Season 3 of House Hunters Renovation. Clients Alex and Fiona. We completely gutted the initial layout of the space which was cramped and compartmentalized. We opened up with space to one large open room. Adding (2) windows to the backyard allowed for a beautiful view to the newly landscaped space and filled the room with light. The floor tile is a vein cut travertine. The vanity is from James Martin and the counter and splash were made locally with a custom curve to match the mirror shape. We finished the look with a gray teal paint called Rain and soft window valances.
