This decades-old bathroom had a perplexing layout. A corner bidet had never worked, a toilet stood out almost in the center of the space, and stairs were the only way to negotiate an enormous tub. Inspite of the vast size of the bathroom it had little countertop work area and no storage space. In a nutshell: For all the square footage, the bathroom wasn’t indulgent or efficient. In addition, the homeowners wanted the bathroom to feel spa-like and restful. Our design team collaborated with the homeowners to create a streamlined, elegant space with loads of natural light, luxe touches and practical storage. In went a double vanity with plenty of elbow room, plus under lighted cabinets in a warm, rich brown to hide and organize all the extras. In addition a free-standing tub underneath a window nook, with a glassed-in, roomy shower just steps away. This bathroom is all about the details and the countertop and the fireplace are no exception. The former is leathered quartzite with a less reflective finish that has just enough texture and a hint of sheen to keep it from feeling too glam. Topped by a 12-inch backsplash, with faucets mounted directly on the wall, for a little more unexpected visual punch. Finally a double-sided fireplace unites the master bathroom with the adjacent bedroom. On the bedroom side, the fireplace surround is a floor-to-ceiling marble slab and a lighted alcove creates continuity with the accent lighting throughout the bathroom.

In this master bath remodel, we removed the standard builder grade jetted tub and tub deck to allow for a more open concept. We provided a large single person soaking tub with new wainscot below the panoramic windows and removed the traditional window grills to allow for a clear line of sight to the outside. Roman blinds can be lowered for more privacy. A beautiful chrome and black drum chandelier is placed over the soaking tub and co-exists wonderfully with the other fixtures in the room. The combination of chrome and black on the fixtures adds a little glam to the simplified design.

The existing bathroom had a very 90’s builder-grade look with large frameless mirrors, false-front drawers, a seated vanity area, and dated wallpaper (which the client had begun to peel off in preparation for the remodel!) Although these features showcased the age of the home, the room had good bones and a functional layout. This beach house was taken down to the studs! Walls were taken down and the ceiling was taken up to the highest point it could be taken to for an expansive feeling without having to add square footage. Floors were totally renovated using an engineered hardwood light plank material, durable for sand, sun and water. The bathrooms were fully renovated and a stall shower was added to the 2nd bathroom. A pocket door allowed for space to be freed up to add a washer and dryer to the main floor. The kitchen was extended by closing up the stairs leading down to a crawl space basement (access remained outside) for an expansive kitchen with a huge kitchen island for entertaining. Light finishes and colorful blue furnishings and artwork made this space pop but versatile for the decor that was chosen. This beach house was a true dream come true and shows the absolute potential a space can have.

Our clients had wanted to build a new custom home on their land that was also a hillside. By keeping it in budget, and on time with comprehensive Design, Permitting & Construction process we were able to bring their "craftsman" style to ready for move in!
