Growing tired of their home's generic finishes, these Connecticut homeowners first worked with Simply Baths & Showcase Kitchens on their kitchen remodel and home addition. Upon completing the kitchen, they realized that they wanted to bring the same high-style to their master bathroom. The design team at Simply Baths, Inc. worked with the homeowners to incorporate features as fashionable as they are functional. With the original square footage and a similar layout, the new design altered the existing tub deck to accommodate a larger, frameless shower with shower seat. For a sleek, spa-like look, they chose Kohler's water tiles to insert in the shower tile. The new hydrotherapy tub has a heater to keep the water warm. The master bathroom also features a brown onyx tub deck and countertops, marble vessel sinks, marble mirrors, and a make-up bench. The cathedral ceiling and skylight add a light, airy atmosphere to the room. By making the most of the existing space, the homeowners now have a relaxing retreat they love.

The design of this master bathroom is set to compliment the natural stone slab floor that sets the tone for this room. Because the entire second floor of the house was renovated into a master suite, the client requested an open concept plan for the entire suite. This allowed Equilibrium to increase the floor area of the bathroom and design an incredible statement piece which is the floor. Honey onyx slabs were cut into oversized tiles to make them more manageable and installed in a diamond pattern preserving continuity of lines from tile to tile, and slab to slab. Furthermore, what otherwise would be waste cut material, it was chiseled, flamed, and fabricated into custom mosaic installed on the back wall of the bathroom and on shower floor. To ensure Client’s safety, slabs were treated with anti slippage treatment and shower floor was finished with matching mosaic. Client requested that the shower is oversized and feels like showering under a waterfall. This was accomplished by running four separate water lines to feed the shower plumbing. When the two oversized rain heads, two shower heads, and six water jets are all on, you get the feeling of being under a natural waterfall in the Amazon. Non of this would be possible in today’s water starved world if it wasn’t for harvesting and special filtration system installed on this property that allows recirculation of water. Variation of lighting types allows for various theme settings, and energy efficient LED lighting further enhance the beauty of this bathroom with minimum energy consumption. Even edges of slabs were polished to ensure maximum light refraction with beveled seams that create purposeful patterns instead of hiding seams. Shower doors were etched with a pattern that adds dimension and provides privacy while complimenting the mosaic pattern on the back wall. The double sink vanity was floated off the floor allowing for maximum visibility of this artistic installation. It was made of rosewood and designed with three sections for drawers and storage. The three levels create a scalloping effect allowing each to be illuminated by LED lights which reflect elegantly in the onyx slab floor. Complimented by honey onyx top, and placed against a 42” high onyx wainscot, it is a functional and beautiful millwork. This master bathroom is a testament to engineering, originality, and beauty seen in every detail. This "woman-of-the-house" master bath is a dream bathroom featuring exceptional coastal views! Who wouldn't love to soak in this gorgeous claw-foot tub?! The "Crema Marfil" marble floor, the large pillars, the steps up to the bath and the arched, lighted mirrors give the bathroom a Roman feel. Two separate vanities allow a space for washing up and an area for prepping hair and make-up. A separate water closet houses the toilet while a circular, marble shower provides an elegant showering experience.

Photos: Paul Grdina This penthouse in Port Coquitlam was not even 2 years old when SGDI was engaged to make it something more than ordinary. This was a typical condo, built for the masses, not for a specific owner. Nothing overly nice or interesting, average quality products throughout. This entire condo was gutted down to the studs and received an entire overhaul from ceilings to floors. Beautiful herringbone patterned walnut flooring, with custom millwork and classic details throughout. Intricate diamond coffered ceilings found in the dining and living room define these entertaining spaces. Custom glass backsplash set the scene in this new kitchen with Wolf/Sub-Zero appliances. The entire condo was outfitted with state of the art technology and home automation. A custom wine room with UV blocking glass can be found on the second floor opening onto the large rooftop deck with uninterrupted views of the city. The master suite is home to a retractable TV so views were not interrupted. The master ensuite includes a generous steam shower and custom crotch mahogany vanity. Masculine elegance with hints of femininity create a fantastic space to impress.

A Waterworks freestanding bath takes center stage in this symmetrical floorplan, where his and her vanities in mahogany wood ground either end with classic style pediments. Palladian style doors and windows flood this space with light while hand plastered walls create subtle variation and a warm glow to the space.
