Kitchens
A pass-through between a kitchen and outdoor area is a convenient way to transfer food, drinks and other supplies quickly to the center of the action. If bugs are a concern, consider a window line that includes separate sliding screens (such as the Marvin Ultimate Glider). Another option is to position a pass-through that connects your kitchen to a screened-in porch.
New semicustom maple cabinets in a mushroom color complement the soft beige walls (Tapestry Beige by Benjamin Moore). Off-white trim (Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore) coordinates with glazed white ceramic backsplash tile and marble-look quartz countertops for a fresh, inviting transitional style.
Great design tips that are not obvious but make the finished kitchen design elegant and useful.
Aging in Place design
Higher counterspace hides the view of the kitchen's messy areas from the dining area and provides cabinets to store items used in dining room. But the kitchen and dining room flow as one open space.
Like the color and simple style of cabinets and the cup handles
Corners in kitchens often go unused because they’re difficult to reach and wind up being dead space. A tall cabinet with a drawer on the bottom creates a smart storage opportunity for quick-grab items like spices, oils and other items frequently used at the nearby cooktop.
Another idea for a very accessible pantry with a counter that could be a workspace.
This bar at the end of a row of kitchen cabinets softens the look into the kitchen from the main living area and would be a good place to put a coffee bar for guests that would keep them out of the way in the kitchen.
The material for the backsplash was limestone tile from Walker Zanger.
On this wall, cabinets open to reveal all kinds of pullouts and storage compartments. In the cabinet on the right you can see a pass-through that connects to the utility room, where there’s a washer and dryer, storage cabinets and an extra refrigerator. The Elders added the pass-through to make it easier for them to transfer heavy groceries or pots of soup between the two rooms.
Love the idea of using a beautiful slab of marble or granite as a backsplash in the kitchen, so it almost seems like a work of art, especially for an open kitchen where it can be seen from multiple rooms.
Another way to “build in” your freestanding refrigerator is to actually build it into the wall, rather than cabinets. If your kitchen plan will allow it, this is probably the easiest and most cost-effective way to get the look, because you can make the opening the exact width and depth you require. You also won’t have any cabinet modification costs.
Shelves on both sides of vent hood keep the look "light" and uncrowded.
Lovely kitchen and convenient dining area. The tile over the cooktop is beautiful!
Lots of texture - smooth brushed brass pendents, tile on back wall, natural fiber bar stools
This set of drawers makes a great breakfast bar while providing a good spot to store items like cutlery, candles and napkins for the adjacent dining area. The fuss-free handleless design means that the drawers close to form a neat edge.
Lovely kitchen/eat-in area/family room. Beautiful cabinets and pulls.
Like the 3 big windows over the sink with no upper cabinets
Love the vent hood! Like the dark island surrounded by light color perimeter cabinets
Just gorgeous!
What a pantry!
Very attractive kitchen
Another idea for trash/recycling pullout - put the paper towels right above it to make more space available on the countertop
this is the type of undercounter trash and recycling bins I want
This may be a more efficient way to organize undersink items
great way tp easily access small appliances but hide them away when not in use
Microwave, 2nd oven, refrigerator and panty cabinet all integrated into one wall of kitchen.
Consider customizing an upper cabinet above the coffee/bar area where guests can access beverages and ice by covering the cabinet doors with beautiful art; in this example, wallpaper. The doors were sized to fit the exact width of the wallpaper but made larger than the cabinet box, making the art stand out and giving an appearance that it floats off the wall.
You can cook and relax in comfort in this kitchen.
I like the simple white cabinetry around the perimeter of this kitchen and the wood island and vent hood to warm up the room along with brass fixtures.
Shaker-style cabinets, a geometric mosaic tile used as an accent in two prominent places (here and over the range) makes a big impact with just a small amount of expensive tile.
Spring for a pullout drying rack. It doesn’t matter how many dishwashers you have; you’ll always be air-drying a few pieces in your kitchen. If you’ve got room in your budget for a little splurge, consider a pullout drying cart like the one shown in this Northern California kitchen. It takes the place of a cabinet right next to the sink and keeps the clutter off the countertop.
Use reclaimed wood or stone for an island kick plate. It won't show the inevitable scratches and scuffs.
Have a beverage center with small sink outside the main traffic of the kitchen so guests can prepare coffee, pour wine, etc without getting in way of the cook
Maximize prep space on an island by putting the prep sink on one end of the island.
backsplash, diamond detail, removal of desk
