William Blake Homes

After initial consultation with Dave and seeing the quality in one of his William Blake homes, we decided to have them do our major renovation. Our house was gutted to the studs and redone completely. Although we began our project in 2021 when Covid supply issues started, we were able to get everything completed in 6 months. We so appreciated the standard of quality that William Blake Homes represents, and they were true to their values in customer service. It was a great partnership in producing a well finished beautiful home.

The process began with Dave really listening to our goals with respect to building our custom family home. He understood our budget goals and worked with our architect and designer to help ensure that those budget goals were embedded into our beautiful design and plans. Throughout the build, Dave and Lorenz (the William Blake project manager) kept us up to date on all construction timelines and items. Dave and Lorenz provided excellent coordination with all trades. Lorenz’s organization, detailed updates and pragmatic timelines were valuable components to an enjoyable build. Dave and Lorenz were always available to answer questions, provide updates and review scenarios throughout the construction period. Whether by BuilderTrend, email, and/or text, all of our questions and comments were responded to quickly and in detail. The build proceeded very smoothly from start to completion – even with the unprecedented Covid-19 situation arising prior to completion. Very few issues arose during construction, but when any infrequent issue arose, Dave and Lorenz took our point of view into account and made sure to resolve any issue in a way that completely satisfied

We selected William Blake Homes to build our custom single family home near downtown Calgary and have been very happy with our decision. Throughout our project, from the initial planning and budgeting through to completion and possession, Dave Tidmarsh was professional, transparent and very responsive. In the early stages, Dave's guidance was helpful in preparing a solid budget that afforded a high quality home with the fixtures and features we desired, without overspending on options that weren't important to us. Our final cost to complete was within a few percent of our original budget and we very pleased with the selections we made and final product. The project was completed on time and we were living in our new home less than a year after our initial budget meeting with Dave. During the building stage, our site manager Phil was great to work with. He did a good job of guiding us through the selection process, setting reasonable deadlines for our decisions and managing the trades to our timeline. Phil was willing to meet with us on site as often as we wished and was also responsive over email and text (which was often our preference). We were impressed with the quality of the William Blake trades and suppliers and enjoyed using the new BuilderTrend online system and mobile app, which kept us up to speed on the status, timeline and budget for our project. An important consideration for us when we selected our building partner was to ensure that they were professional and accountable in the event any issues arose (which are bound to happen with any project of this scale). Throughout the build, we were pleased that we not only encountered very few issues, but more importantly Dave and Phil were always professional and reasonable in resolving these matters in a timely manner, which demonstrated their integrity and commitment to quality. Overall, we were very satisfied with our home building experience and believe William Blake Homes should be strongly considered for anyone looking to build a custom home in Calgary.

William Blake Homes recently built a home for us, and we are delighted with the finished product and with the entire design and build process. Dave Tidmarsh (owner) stayed in touch throughout the process, even after assigning a great project manager, Jamie Irvine, to us. The project included demolishing an existing house, design, city permitting and build. We had never built a house before, and they held our hand through the whole process. Communication was always honest and respectful, so there were very few surprises. We have now been in the house for four months, and are thrilled with the results. We recently build a home with Dave and his team from William Blake. We have been living in the house for the last few months and continue to love our new home. We feel the build quality is very high and schedule/budget were as we agreed upon. Throughout the build, we received regular communication from the team in regards to issues & progress. We purchased a new home after it was built by William Blake Homes. The quality and craftsmanship of the house is excellent. Attention to detail is evident. The individuals have been professional and knowledgeable. The only minor issues were that a few small things were not completed (for e.g. insikerator was not hooked up, there were a few electric plugs that were not hooked up, etc.).

We absolutely love the home we built with William Blake Homes. We owned the property and home on which we built and the team worked directly with us from selling and moving our existing home for us to the completion of every detail in our new place. It became very apparent early on that Dave held customer satisfaction as a top priority and he worked very closely with us to resolve any issues as they arose. We always felt comfort in knowing that we were in good hands and that things would be taken care even when uncertain. A high level of support has continued even after we gained possession of the home. Everyone we interfaced with along the way were very knowledgeable, respectful and a pleasure to work with. There was a real collaborative effort between our designer and project manager that allowed us be able to take a back seat at times and just enjoy the process as it unfolded in front of us. We would not hesitate to recommend Dave and his team to our friends or use them again if we were to build once more!

Our experience with William Blake Homes was uniformly positive. William Blake Homes completed a full demolition and rebuild of the two (2) upstairs washrooms in our home, as well as a more lip-stick style reno to the main floor washroom. From start to finish, William Blake Homes was honest, forthright, professional and easy to work with. Dave - the owner of William Blake Homes - was keenly interested in our goals and budget at the planning stage, and ensured that we made the educated choices required to stay within budget and to achieve our desired results. He was a genius in marrying our budget to our goals. William Blake Homes' trades were all professional and positive, and each had an impressive attention to detail. At completion, the results exceeded our expectations - the washrooms look amazing. Dave made sure to be an integral part of the final turnover, and personally made sure any deficiencies were rectified. Most impressively, William Blake Homes stuck to the agreed upon contract pricing and there were no issues re: 'extras' throughout the project. Overall, our experience with William Blake Homes was excellent. We very much look forward to working with them on our next major project. We wholeheartedly recommend William Blake Homes.

We hired William Blake Homes to complete an extensive renovation of our 1970’s home and we are so happy we chose them for the job! Excellent job, Dave and his team were very professional, and Rob as project manager organized the various trades so I didn't have to worry about anything. Rob was always available if I had any questions or concerns. They took care to disturb us as little as possible, and I appreciated extra touches like taking down the plastic barrier wall over the weekend, or always leaving the site as clean as possible. Would definitely hire WBH again for future work.

Working with Dave and his team is a true collaborative effort between the client, designer and trades.
