Will Eick of HomeComing Woodworks restored and refinished our Family Heirloom China Cabinet. Family legend placed the acquisition of the cabinet back to the late nineteenth century. Age and past efforts at finish topcoating had deeply blackened the finish and some of the glue joints were clearly saying they had enough. For this treasured cabinet to remain in service a major overall was required. We did a long search for restoration cabinetmakers and clearly felt Will was our best option to provide the skills and sensitivity the project needed. A rich warm hued structure of solid mahogany lay under the blackened crumbling finish. Will removed the old finishes, applied a new finish that allowed the wood to really speak. He also reset all the mirror and glass work. The cabinet now projects a proud and handsome presence for both itself and its contents. Will was a pleasure to work with, someone who really sweats the details. He kept in close touch with us reviewing restoration details, carefully preparing stains and finishing sample options. When you work with Will your project has his full time and attention, as it will literally be the only work in the shop at that time.

Will is so talented - both at problem-solving and building quality custom cabinetry. His estimating is clear and accurate and I would recommend him to anyone looking for exceptional work.

Will has repaired two dining room chairs for our family. His woodworking techniques are amazing in accuracy and intricacy. He is straightforward with his estimates and expected completion dates. I have also asked him for help with my own refinishing furniture projects which included removing veneer from a 1920 buffet and advice in drilling holes for handles in bathroom cabinets. Wow, does he know a lot and is happy to provide advice and encouragement. I happily recommend Will to do your next furniture repair.

We have a set of antique chairs that were in desperate need of repair. They are family heirlooms with cushions needlepointed by both grandmothers and my mother, thus they have significant emotional meaning for my family. Will treated the project with utmost care and respect. He helped me figure out which were fixable (6 out of 7 chairs). He did amazing work and the chairs are beyond beautiful… and safe to sit on! Will is a talented woodworker and consummate professional. He kept us informed every step of the way. Perhaps most importantly, he cared about how important these chairs are to my family and respected their emotional link to our heritage. If I had 6 stars to give Will, I would. For over a decade I have relied on Will Eick of Homecoming Woodworks to make my house dreams come true. I knew him to be a straightforward and reliable person, so I engaged him to design and build my new kitchen. It had to fit a small footprint in my cottage and required swapping out a door for a window, complete cabinetry and cutting a new entry door. I was consistently pleased with his attention to my design requests. As we worked together on the unique design, he presented drafts, computer mock-ups and careful cost estimates. To my past and present delight my “new kitchen” is still an aesthetically pleasing workspace that works beautifully for preparation and presentation of meals. Will’s workmanship is superb. Every cabinet and drawer functions perfectly after 12 years of daily use. It still all looks new and I get lots of compliments. And the price was fair and worth every penny. When it came time to build a canopy over my entry door I immediately hired Will. He again designed and built a beautiful and functional structure and coordinated the integration of the roofing with existing standing seam that is on the house. As a craftsman he is matchless. As a person he is beyond that. Polite, intelligent, timely, responsible, reliable, trustworthy and communicative, he balances all the variables of design/build with a lovely sense of humor and kindness. I highly recommend Will Eick/Homecoming Woodworks. Over the years, Will has completed several projects including rebuilding a staircase and partially renovating the kitchen. On every project, he has been thorough, professional, and timely, has communicated clearly, and has produced beautiful results. He brings a creative and flexible approach that has been especially useful in upgrading a middle aged home that didn’t start out with much character. On every project, and during the stairway and kitchen work in particular, he left the site clean and usable at the end of every workday, something that is so rare during renovation. More recently, I asked Will to refinish a drop-leaf table that is a family piece, and he did a beautiful job. I have recommended Will to others in the past, and continue to do so wholeheartedly.

Over the course of 2020 we had Will build several pieces of custome furniture for us - a breakfront hutch, a corner cabinet, a dining room table with butterfly leaf storage that can seat up to 12 people, upholstered chairs to go with the table as well as a couple of other smaller projects. All were made of cherry with black walnut accents. The furniture is absolutely stunning, and Will's attention to detail is amazing. He was professional and responsive and kept us informed of the status of the various pieces he was working on for us. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Homecoming Woodworks has done two projects in our home, both exceeding our expectations. Not only is Will's workmanship superb but his design sense and innovative problem-solving resulted in completed work that we continue to appreciate every day. Will completed a remodel of our mid-century kitchen, including designing and building cherry cabinets and adding a pantry with ingenious features. A built-in bookcase by Homecoming Woodworks enhances our living room.

Will Eick has completed many projects in two different house for me over the last fifteen years - first in an old house and more recently in a more modern condo. From a small repair to larger installation such as new cabinetry for a renovated bathroom, Will's work is always thoughtfully conceived and beautifully executed. A couple years ago, while cleaning out a barn in Shelburne, I discovered a salvaged library ladder stored in back corner. It had been there for over 30 years. Pieces of the attaching hardware came to light. The long pole on which the ladder slid was stashed in the rafters. Could the apparatus be saved and reused in my new place? Will had never installed a library ladder but said he'd always wanted to and welcomed the challenge. It was enough assurance for me and we loaded the parts and pieces for transport to his shop where everything was cleaned and reassembled and cut to fit into my new home. A few weeks later, Will installed the gleaming brass bar, attaching hardware, and the wonderful old ladder. It looks fabulous and works beautifully! With skill and attention to detail, Will had worked his woodworking wizardry. I am thrilled with the outcome and it's a showstopper in my small home library. .

From start to finish working with Will of HomeComing Woodworks was a fantastic experience. We contacted Will to create a custom shelf to serve as a railing for our stairs as well as a stand for our tv projector. He designed and built the perfect piece which not only looks stunning but is also amazingly functional. The entire piece was built to be hollow to run cords, has electricity and outlets exactly where we need them, fit the exact dimensions we needed, and is so obviously built by a master craftsman that visitors regularly comment on it. From the time we first contacted HomeComing Woodworks to project completion, every step of the process was timely and professional. We had several versions sent back and forth refining each and every detail of the project. Not only did he deliver and install the piece on time, he even returned and made further adjustments outside of the scope of the original project when we inquired. This project has elevated the look of our home and has created an enjoyable space in the main living room. We couldn't be happier with the work provided and would recommend HomeComing Woodworks to anyone...and have!
