Our architectural firm is devoted to sustainable design. When we began design efforts on an all-native Legacy Garden for our new offices we knew we needed someone with expertise willing to collaborate with us. Because we recommend native species for the landscape components of all of our projects we thought we had considerable knowledge in that regard.....but Georgia's knowledge far surpassed ours and any of the other designers we interviewed! She and her team of women gardeners and installers looked at our sorry situation [lots of roots, public pathway for dog-walkers, etc.] and designed and installed a remarkable garden that will bloom all year long, placing labels on each species for public education purposes. Now we have an actual tool to help us convince homeowners that native landscapes are not only sustainable but beautiful. Our lovely garden is now a Georgia Native Plant Society Gold Certified Native Plant Habitat!. Can't say enough about Beautyberry Gardens for collaboration, design, installation and continuing care! Georgia Hill did a beautiful native plant design for our front yard. She is thorough in assessing soil and light conditions. She listened to me and put together a design that incorporated our conversations (which is not always true of garden designers). She chose plants that should be able to survive our property conditions. Also, we have a problem with voles and and runoff of soil. She had solutions. We decided to have Beautyberry do the install for us but wanted to split it into two installations (for financial reasons). She was happy to do it that way. We have now had the first phase of the installation done and I couldn't be happier. Georgia also put together a temporary watering setup with timer (we don't have irrigation) so as to maximize survival of the new plants. She also did a walkthrough explaining what I need to do.

Georgia at Beautyberry Gardens designed and installed our front and side garden and the strips between the sidewalk and road (everything visible from the street on our corner lot). Our request was for a native pollinator garden in a color palette that we like, that is drought resistant, low maintenance, provides privacy in some places and discourages dogs from using the property as a bathroom. The work was replacing an overgrown mess of non-native plants, unwanted invaders and areas where nothing much grew at all. The design process was very well executed. Georgia listened to what we were asking for, gave us accurate information on what was possible or challenging, and iterated on designs to reflect our feedback. Communication was excellent and we always knew what we needed to provide and when we could expect responses. Work didn't start until the plan was in place and all the necessary hardscaping was completed, which is what we wanted. The install went smoothly and to plan. There were some substitutions but we had been told of that possibility and all the changes reflected a need identified post-design. The team keep the site as clean as you can when installing a landscape and cleaned up afterward. They were respectful of our neighbors in a dense neighborhood. The watering plan was clearly explained and reasonable to follow. Post install visits addressed a few problems that arose due to unpredictable weather and plant performance. The results have been great, particularly the street-adjacent strips that are so challenging in our neighborhood. We have strong growth, nearly year round visual interest, and a healthy insect population. People stop as they walk past the house to look at the plants and we are frequently complemented and asked "what plant is that?". We strongly recommend Beautyberry Gardens for SouthEast native gardens, particularly when the site or requests are challenging. It was an excellent experience.

Georgia was wonderful to work with- I have a small yard but already had many native plants that she had to work around. She created a plan I could work with and supplied the plants. The design gave cohesiveness to my yard which was one of my goals.

After settling into my newly purchased home, it became more and more clear that the front yard was a problem. Lots of good plants in bad locations, a melange of ground covers, grasses, and invasive weeds in between, and a dying dogwood in the middle. The space isn't huge really, but spacious enough to be too large an area of me to conceive let alone execute on a plan of remediation. Enter Georgia Hill and Beautyberry Gardens! She first engaged me in a conversation about generally what I wanted to achieve, which for me meant lots of native plants beloved by pollinators and birds. Then she came and spent a long time in the space, walking it, measuring it along with the moisture in the ground and sun from above, and observing grades, shade, and so on. Then came a detailed plan with plant specs including a color map. Installation was no easy feat given the scope of the project, but it all happened within a week when I was out of town. She set up sprinklers to go off as needed to settle the new plants into the ground. Since then, Georgia has maintained the space, weeding, observing, and at times replacing the few failed plants that have failed to prosper. Georgia knows and loves plants (she speaks Latin about half the time) and is skilled at working with homeowners to create the outdoor spaces that they want. She is a joy to work with. I recommend her and her crew highly and heartily.

Georgia Hill and her team at Beautyberry Gardens, LLC are miracle workers. They meticulously transformed my hopelessly overgrown, unappealing front yard -- originally created in the mid-80s -- into a spectacular, envy-of-the-neighborhood landscape filled with Georgia native plants.
