We worked with Erica to overhaul both our front and back yards. She was the consummate creative professional - worked well with constraints, explored multiple ideas and worked with us to get to phenomenal outcomes. Everyone who visits comments on how much they love both spaces and more than a few have reached out to Erica to start projects of their own.

How We Chose Erica: Erica’s modern, exquisite design aesthetic made her our first choice as a landscape designer for our mid-century modern Eichler. Our home has floor-to-ceiling windows so our outdoor space is just as important, if not more important, that our interior space. Our backyard is visible from literally every room in our house. We wanted our garden to be perfect. Working with Erica: Erica skill is listening carefully, and openly, to what our family needed. Erica deeply loves the process of designing a solution just for our family and our home. It’s a joy to spend time with her. Our Challenging Garden: Our yard is a challenging space: We had an existing 12-year old hardscape from our first landscape design project, but swaths of plants that had failed during the drought, two boys that needed more space to run with their dog and friends, a chicken coop, beehive, and we wanted drought-tolerant plants that were also modern and low-maintenance. PLUS there were unfinished parts of our yard. Any one of these would be a challenge by itself, especially since Erica couldn’t start with a blank slate. We needed a cohesive design to pull it all together. Variegated Green's Design: Erica delivered on this challenge and elevated our front and backyard into small, intimate rooms that create peaceful vignettes whether we are sitting in our new fire pit area (converted from a sandbox), or walking down the side of the house (previously a field of weeds and old toys) which is now the new entrance to our home with a view of an olive tree and swath of billy button flowers. We can’t wait to see the rest of the garden when it’s complete. Erica's attention to detail: During the construction phase, it became more evident how carefully Erica chose to invest in a particular light fixture, or certain sized plants, or recommended one gravel over the other. Each material and its relation to another, and our house and light and its impact on the environment and how it will be used, are carefully considered. As homeowners who have DIY’ed a majority of our yard, I can’t tell you how valuable this insight is. We love our yard! We enthusiastically recommend Erica to anyone who wants to maximize every inch of the property they have with a garden that has the aesthetic sensibility of a peaceful, modern retreat and the practicality of a space you’ll never want to leave.

Erica was such a fantastic partner in our landscaping project. We had very specific wants, but also a lack of knowledge in many areas and specifics of the work that she and her team managed and worked around. The design which we we're drawn up was the execution that was done to every detail. Our landscape is unique and perfect and still looks good two years down the road as it did on the day we completed. There is no way we'd go with anyone else if we do another landscaping project.

We have a small backyard that we wanted to refresh and update so that our family could actually enjoy it! Erica brought to the project not only her expertise, creative ideas and professionalism, but a solid amount of good cheer and she was so easy to work with and to collaborate with on the project. We have already recommended her and will continue to do so whenever anyone compliments us on our backyard, which is every time we have friends and family over. She brainstormed and came up with a full plan that included the decking, built-in seating and planters as well as all the plants that she was recommending based on the orientation of our yard.
