Urban Mode has built its reputation on fun, affordable and great design. When we opened the first store in 1977, we were proud to feature home grown Canadian talent. Taking risks to surprise and delight our customers - we were the first to carry the Umbra line of products! The old Queen Street location attracted considerable traffic. Sometimes there were even line ups to get into the store. Urban Mode and owners, Myrlene Sundberg and John Palchinski, have matured a little since then. But our appetite for fun and original, yet accessible design has not wavered. We showcase exclusive product from unique lines such as Blu Dot, SoftLine, Muuto, Normann Copenhagen, Pablo Lighting, Menu and soon to come - Hay, just to name a few. They voted us ‘Best Furniture Store’ in Toronto … more than once! Perhaps it’s the exclusive curated collection or the fun accessories, or maybe they like the fact that we’re a little different ... in a good way. Our customers are looking for different. Something that makes their interiors unique and their design work stand out. Something they can’t find anywhere else.
