A whole house build is an enormous project, and the folks at Upstream Construction really came through on all the details. They impressed me right off the bat with their idea for a truss system for the roof that would not require posts to interrupt the flow of the design. They were also very willing to learn about ICF wall construction and they worked closely with the sub contractor on this important phase of the process. Our design included built in niches, spiral stairs, a long glass balcony railing, custom tiles, several different kinds of flooring of different thicknesses, a built-in cat door and several pocket doors, a hanging, sliding glass shower door, unusual angles on an outdoor deck, plus a complicated lighting system, and the installation of a 700 pound German wood stove. Matt, who was the project supervisor, made sure all was completed to our satisfaction. The workers showed up on time and came when they said they were going to come, were polite and easy to work with. The reason Upstream does not get 5 stars is because of the large discrepancy between what they estimated the job to cost, and what the estimate of the job was after more detailed drawings were submitted. In short, I lost the opportunity to have a garage, because of the 15% increase in costs. All in all they are a terrific company with high standards, and I would enthusiastically recommend them.

We have had the privilege to work with Terry and her team for many years. Anytime challenges are presented, you can count on them to take the correct and ethical path to get them resolved. In these times, it is refreshing to work with someone who treats each house they build as their own and stops at nothing until they achieve total satisfaction from the owner. We are truly proud to be a part of her company's team.

My company has done insulation work for Upstream Construction for several years. Terry demands an excellent finished product from her subcontractors but is very pleasant and fair to work with. I have worked with Terry for almost 7 years now and have never had her ask me about short cuts or a cheaper way of doing something, she is only interested in doing things the correct way. I would highly recommend Upstream to anyone looking for a 1st class general contractor.

New construction doubling the size of our existing home which originated as a modest hunting cabin. The owner and all members of firm perform work on the project. All subcontractors are excellent, respect the firm owner and work extremely well with the builders and the clients. They have resolved design issues, identified and corrected previously unknown problems with the property which has added value. Communication is open, handled immediately and effective. Have had open discussions re budget without any disagreements and with good results. The entire team are a joy to work with, and we are absolutely pleased that we chose UpStream.

Herndon/Upstream built us a LEED Gold, Earth Craft House and it may be the best built house I have ever walked in. We have be in the house for 5 years and absolutely love it. The quality of the construction is nothing short of fantastic! The house is the tightest you could imagine. Everything worked well in the house the day we moved and still does 5 years later. We are so happy with it that we allow potential serious clients to tour it. Usually at the end of building a house the homeowner hates the builder - we threw Herndon and the subcontractors a party. Working closely with them, we were able to have all the fantastic environmental attributes at a comparable price to other custom homes with virtually no extra costs. Upstream Construction reconstructed half of our 100 year old home. Renovations included a complete kitchen redo along with significant room reconfigurations and modernization. After 5 years, we remain completely satisfied with the results and our ongoing experience with Upstream.
