Paul Derksen, native of Hanover, ON, Canada, received a BA in biology from Eastern Mennonite University in 1994. He began working in the construction trades at a young age in retail lumber, road construction, and general home repairs. After extensively renovating his first house on nights and weekends, he followed his passion for building and began a renovation and fine carpentry business in Vermont in 2002. Paul has also worked as a millwork purchaser and retail lumber salesman, and teaches carpentry and cabinetry classes at Yestermorrow Design/Build School. Paul resides in Norwich, VT and enjoys hiking, photography, drawing, mountain biking, skiing, and camping with his wife, 2 children, and dog.

We first hired Turning Leaf to renovate/remodel a large bathroom in our 100+ year old hay barn. Paul’s creative ideas, ultimate design and craftmanship were beyond expectations. We now have the nicest room in the house problem! We liked the work so much we asked Paul to build a detached carriage house/2 car garage. He was able to integrate design features that complimented many of the striking elements of the old barn, while keeping the new structure versatile and energy efficient. Both projects were completed in a timely manner and within budget.
