Young Architecture + Design (YAR+D)

Kevin provided outstanding insight, advice and creative designs to help me achieve my dream of an indoor athletic facility. Finding and implementing an indoor athletic facility is more complicated then locating an open air space. Kevin stepped in and helped me tackle fire marshall regulations, city ordinances and how to maximize the space found to provide a high quality indoor athletic facility. And he did this not once but twice as the original space became nonviable due to external reasons. more importantly Kevin injected his passion for Soccer, futbol, and youth activities in the conceptualization and details of the visual, physical and logical aspects of the facility. He took my vision of an urban athletic facility with a community vibe and made it a reality right down to graffiti murals and a club seating lounge.

We needed to add a closet to an existing bedroom and remodel a bathroom using space from a storage closet and hallway. Kevin came to our rescue. His designs worked perfectly. Kevin even recommended a contractor that would execute his designs as drawn. Kevin was available to consult with the contractor whenever they needed him. To have an architect and a contractor working well together was a win win for us. My husband and I were very pleased with the projects from start to finish.

I retained Mr. Kevin Young with Young Architecture + Design to draw up plans for an extension of my 2nd level deck at my home in Tavares, FL. This extension included a fireplace that was on the ground level of the screened outdoor living area and extended to the 2nd level open air recreational deck with views of Lake Dora. Private Home. Completely renovated the master and hall bathrooms. Installed stand alone shower in the master bathroom, tiled, painted, installed new toilets, bathtubs and mirrors. Enclosed linen closet in hallway and combined it with wasted space in the hall bathroom to extend the closet space available for linen and additional storage. Removed wall-to-wall carpeting and installed wood floors on steps, hallways, bedrooms on second floor and bonus room on3rd floor. Installed all new fans and lighting in the bedrooms and hallway. Added skylight in the bonus room on 3rd floor. custom built bookshelves, desks and entertainments center in the bonus room on the 3rd floor. Kevin Young is extremely talented and he worked closely with us to ensure that he was capturing our vision of what we wanted. He also was very helpful in providing us with ideas and suggestions that would work well with what we were thinking about. All of the changes were done according to our specifications and we are extremely pleased with the service provided.

Excellent communication with a down to earth personable group. Appreciated the design options presented to us for our budget. Would happily meet with them for future projects and definitely would refer family and friends for their unique expertise and perspective. A real pleasure, indeed.

Kevin Young designed and stayed with the construction until the very end. We had some strange concepts for Madison, GA including a lap pool in a screened porch, solar panels covering the roof, a greenhouse next to the kitchen, a rainwater collection system to irrigate plants, a screened sleeping porch, and an overall feeling of merging the house with the outdoors. And do it for less than $500K. We provided lumber for the floor from Red Oaks cut in the clearing process. Kevin did an inspired job of designing all of this. We fell in love with his small scale model of his conception. The sleeping porch is cantilevered over a ravine on the West end of the house, the orientation is East-West so a directly South facing long axis, and a one-room deep living-room with a vaulted ceiling and 12 feet of windows facing South and 12 feet of windows facing North. When our contractor quit his company and turned it over to another person, Kevin stepped in and gave us continuity. He did almost twice the construction coordination work and never even asked about increasing his fee. His dedication to successful completion of the work was extraordinary.
