Christine is an incredibly thoughtful and talented designer. We just completed our second project with her--a basement and bathroom remodel--and were so pleased with the results. Our "before" basement was dreary, dark, and retro. Christine helped us update the design to a bright, modern look but still kept some retro vibes. She picked out light fixtures, tile, carpet, vanity, etc. and we loved all her recommendations. Christine was instrumental in many of the key design elements for the basement and bathroom that make them such special rooms. It is now our favorite place in the house, and my two-year-old spends most of her day down there. She also recommended a great GC to do the work, and we all got along really well. After working with Christine, I would never EVER consider tackling a home renovation project without her. Here’s why: My husband and I were beginning the restoration of a home built in 1859 that was on the National Register of Historic Places, and I was in the market for a designer because I needed . . . a painter. Not just any painter mind you, but one who’d be willing to spend months removing 160 years of existing paint and repairing seemingly endless dents and dings to walls and woodwork. In over four decades of doing extensive whole-house renovations, I had never found a painter with that much patience, but on the day I first met Christine, she put me in touch with the perfect person for the job. I hadn’t originally planned on hiring her for the whole renovation project, but I changed my mind on the spot when I learned that in addition to having a clean, elegant design sense, she understands all aspects of the construction process and prepares detailed 3-D schematics for use by subcontractors in order to ensure that there won’t be any surprises. Among much else, she has come up with ingenious, cost-effective ways of adding storage space to a home that doesn't even have a coat closet and transforming tiny dated bathrooms into the equivalent of a luxury spa, while at the same time keeping an eye on the budget and petting the dog (ours—he adores her). She even managed to create an ideal kitchen out of a not-very-big room that already had three doors, two windows, a fireplace, and a large built-in china cabinet, none of which could be moved without damaging the solid brick walls. And the best part? She somehow makes this whole messy process seem like fun!

We have undertaken a major remodel of our lake home. This absolutely would not have been possible without the help and influence of Christine Lakas. Christine is currently guiding us through a master bathroom remodel. She has amazing ideas and recommendations and has an "A" List team that work with her. When I began my home renovation I didn’t realize how ill-prepared I was for the project. Fortunately, I had enlisted the services of Christine Lakas as Designer/Decorator. After I outlined what I wanted to do: replace carpet with wood flooring, install recessed lighting, put in wood beams in the cathedral ceilings and redo the kitchen and bathrooms, Chris Designed the project on her computer. Then as construction began, Chris worked with the builder to resolve any issues which arose. Chris has extensive knowledge of construction methods and building materials and outstanding design skills. Having Chris work with the builder throughout the renovation insured that the project was completed successfully. I could not be more pleased with the result. I think that whatever your expectations are, Chris will exceed them.

Christine has a wide range of ideas. She can adapt to anyones likes and dislikes. However, she will help you see if you're heading in the wrong direction. Material and styles choices can cause the cost of the project to flectuate. Christine gave us many choices and explained how the price would change based on our decisions. Many of the decisions that we had were hard to make especially if you can't visualize them. That is another she helped to provide. Christine was able to provide us with real houses that displayed what we were trying to achieve. When working with her, she has a plethora of outside sources and peolpe to utilize on your project. That's why the project design is just as important as the person that will make and install your product. Christine personally knows and has worked with the better builders and subcontractors in the area. Her flexability and knowledge is exemplary.

Christine is great. She has a tremendous ability to make you think about new things while staying with your individual tastes. We were planning on decor help and engaged Christine early. She brought design phase challenges to our attention - in fact, redesigned our master bath. We are early in our house build, but we will use her throughout.

She helped design 2 children's rooms along with a bathroom. She also helped with a massive outdoor project of tearing down a deck and concrete patio and building a completely new outdoor living space complete with living area and complete kitchen and bar.

I hired this designer for assistance with remodeling my home. I had a some ideas, but needed direction and guidance. We ended up replacing light fixtures, repainting the entire interior, remodeling a bathroom & bedroom, and repurposing 2 other rooms. I didn't need someone to hold my hand thru the entire process, but rather a person help me direct the project. I especially needed help with colors and decor! Besides making visits to my home, I was able to send her pictures to help with decisions. She assisted me in making the changes I thought wanted and getting me to think outside of my comfortable little box! Although a very busy decorator, I would highly recommend Christine.
