I'm influenced by classic farm houses, Pacific NW modernism, and the urban landscape. I use these as jumping off points to say something new with the design of your house without forgetting the past. My approach to your project will be tailored to your specific goals for creating a beautiful and comfortable environment, maximizing energy efficiency and sustainability, as well as attending to details and craftsmanship. We loved our time spent with Jill, she was able to work within our quick time frame to help us get our project up and running in a short amount of time; and this was SO helpful. Jill is very communicative and that is also an important quality that we appreciate in a professional. Jill was wonderful to work with and we are very happy in our home. I still encounter design elements in my house that delight me and are evidence of her experience, like an extra closet tucked under the stairs (we have amazing storage options!), the way light flows in the house, and windows positioned for privacy where needed. I also appreciated during the design process her ability to both listen and respect our ideas, but also bring her experience, for example in the layout of the master bedroom. We opted to follow Jill's original design of having a master bedroom entryway from which the closet, bedroom and bathroom connect, rather than the closet and bath connected to the bedroom directly and I appreciate this every morning!

Jill Cropp has an eye for detail and is particularly skilled at maximizing the flow of light through buildings. She is excellent at hearing her clients needs and desires and representing these goals in her designs. She creates warm spaces that work well for families. She consistently has exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to work with her on any future projects.

We worked with Jill to design a new detached garage and shop. We wanted to match the look of our 100-year old craftsman-style home but also needed to keep the budget reasonable and work in a tight space on an urban lot. Jill did a great job helping us through the land use and permitting process and designing a great set of plans! Neighbors often comment that they like the look of the garage and how well it matches the house. Jill was very easy to work with.

Jill designed our house quickly, easily, and exactly to suit our needs. She responded to questions and concerns thoughtfully and completely. She worked to conserve space and, thus, reduce the environmental impact of our home while also placing windows and using an open design that makes the home feel spacious and light. She quickly made adjustments and helped us solve some important little problems as our design evolved.

We had a wonderful time working with Jill from Studio Cropp and are really enjoying our new family home. It has only been about 6 weeks since we moved in, but our experience with Cropp Architecture made the majority of the process painless. Highlights of working Jill are her thoroughness and accuracy in the details of our home and her ability to put time into researching our questions. She was also incredibly patient throughout the process, even when we changed our minds and went back and forth a number of times on various decisions. We found Jill to be responsive, and a strong and independent worker. We would definitely recommend Studio Cropp to anyone looking for an architect that will work as a strong member on their home design team.

I have no background in architecture but enjoy design work and wanted to play a primary role in designing our new house. I also had some unusual requests. Whereas some other architects had a "well, that's all fine and good but I'm the architect" attitude, Jill was willing to be a real partner. She's very patient and a great listener and provided all the knowledge you need from an actual architect. She also worked closely (and well) with our builder to clarify the intent of various things and resolve issues as they arose - something not to be undervalued. (project cost is her services, not total cost of project which was a 3500 sq ft highly custom new build)
