Stephen's ability to walk into a room and give you 2-3 options just like that is a testament to his quick mind and creativity. Stephen's extensive experience informs all of his work so you know what you are discussing is actually do-able on a practicable level. He listens and then he takes your desires and comes up with something that takes it to the top level in terms of both design and livability. I wish everyone could be as lucky as we are to have had the opportunity to work with Stephen. An absolute genius of an architect, Stephen is both artist and engineer, and attended to every single detail in the design process. Although my husband entered this project with me with some trepidation, by the end of the design phase we both said even if we never built the house, we enjoyed every moment of the work. We have been working with Stephen, the owner of Studio Dionisi, for the last 20 months. His vision for the remodeling of our 90 year old bungalow has transformed it from tired and banged up, to a home ready to take on the next 90 years. His thoughtful, period appropriate design was approved by the city historic board three different times and allowed us to obtain a state historic grant. Included in this house is a green building agenda that not only meets Santa Fe's green guidlines, but is also in contention for Leed Gold, and perhaps, Platinum certification. It's hard to say what I like best about working with Studio Dionisi, but I should say that when the project was completed and I loved it totally, I told Stephen that if I could find some land I liked, I would be excited to start the process all over again. Stephen was able to listen to my half-baked ideas about building a green house that was both modern and rustic, small yet roomy, and open yet cozy and to create a house that was beyond my wildest dreams. Studio Dionisi provided full service support in the design and logistics of our new home in Santa Fe. We purchased the house while still living in Maui. There were numerous projects that needed to be completed before we made the big move. SD did it ALL by being our eyes and ears (and brains!) on the ground in Santa Fe. With their vast network of GOOD contractors, careful and detailed design and planning, and consistent and thorough management, everything came together perfectly. Stephen Beili is a gifted designer. His work caught my eye over ten years ago in Santa Fe New Mexico with two very different houses. In 2012 I was ready to build my own home and did not hesitate to call Studio Dionisi. The timing was perfect as Stephen was moving back to Santa Fe after working on the east coast designing sustainable “green” homes. We hired him to create a small healthy solar home on a small lot and he succeeded beyond our expectation. His attention to detail cannot be over emphasized. He is an excellent listener, a sharp observer and relentless puzzle solver. He incorporated every design dream, no matter how contradictory, we voiced and created a brilliant home that takes full advantage of views, passive heating, inside/outside living and privacy for us and our neighbors. His extensive research of cost effective materials, environmental footprint, health and longevity of the building introduced us to a community of local experts. We felt secure choosing systems and building methods that would work within our budget. Stephen met the challenge of high expectation and limited budget by insuring that every dollar was well spent. He vetted contractors, suppliers and landscapers to insure that they too would be passionately invested in our project. Our team includes a stellar builder, Jesse Gries of Green Star Builders and a project manager Lori Lanier. When we broke ground in September 2013 Stephen welcomed the opportunity to incorporate the artistic talents of our contractor - steel & iron - and the interior & landscape design talents of our project manager. He is always enthusiastic about learning something new and generously passing on his knowledge. Our regular updates from Stephen included lists of who has what responsibilities in addition to reminders of the schedule and budget. His note taking at every meeting is invaluable for all. Stephen is always open to revisions that improve the project but remains strict to insuring that the budget is adhered, the HERS rating is not compromised and the unique design elements are not lost. When a problem surfaces he brings everyones attention to it and is not satisfied until the team is 100% satisfied. Our home will be completed by June 2014. Stephen has moved on to bigger design projects but remains fully committed and connected to our little house.

Stephen is very eay to work with and is able to translate desires and ideas into a livable house plan. We are thrilled with the result and it's exactly what we wanted - a functional, modern, lovely structure with the many green features we wanted.
