Square Los Angeles Inc, (SQLA) is a landscape architecture, site planning, and urban design firm dedicated to the art of creating engaging environments for life, work, and play. We believe with a passion that nature is essential for healthy, resilient human environments. We design richly layered landscapes that are infused with natural, cultural and healing elements that foster social sustainability and enrich the spirit. OUR VISION We are a process driven studio. Through creative explorations, we seek hands-on knowledge of the physical and psychological qualities of the raw materials of our trade. Through these studies, we gain a strong understanding of materiality and build ‘know how’ which forms the backbone for our design/build and construction services. In turn, this informs insightful knowledge in the design process. We approach design as the art and craft of sculpting space. We use the raw materials of nature—plants, water, rock, gravel and wood—to define and create spaces that influence our emotions, thoughts and realities, intensifying and enriching our experience of a place. We design with life, creating spaces where life happens. We embrace the process of becoming and invite the heavens to transform them into places that continuously engage our senses, and ultimately, fill our spirits with that ineffable sense of being.

I hired SQLA to landscape my parents' back yard. They did a wonderful job, and we were very pleased. What was once dusty backyard was transformed into a peaceful space for my parents to enjoy. We worked with Muhammad who was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. They worked within our budget. I would highly recommend them.

I had one major project in 2005 and currently have two major projects with them that is ongoing. Their team are super talented and very professional and courteous. I hope to have more projects with them. I have recommended them to other clients as well . My current projects are two residential one in city of Maliu and one in Thousand Oaks california.

We hired SQLA to redesign our front and back landscaping a few years ago after seeing one of their projects in Sunset Magazine. Samuel Kim was as creative and responsive as we had hoped -- he presented us with a few alternatives, including a recirculating fountain in front and a fire pit and outdoor movie area in back, working with us to achieve our vision. Importantly, he designed the project to fit within our budget. We couldn't be happier with their work.

As a developer, I need speed when I need it, as well as a thoughtful, clear presentation of design, as well as the balance of the many needs from my own to bureaucracies that force their ideas as well. Your team gave me that and more. Bravo! Thanks for helping me receive "Best in Class" for mutli-residential from the city for our first project together last year with your team.
