Monty and his crew were an absolute joy. They were all very patient, answering all my questions, and showing me issues as they came up. My husband and I were included in all decisions, which was huge because our home had a lot of damage that we didn't know about until the stucco was removed. Our home looks brand new, and is just gorgeous. Thank you, Monty, and Signature Homes Pagosa!!!

I asked Monty to remodel my garage and turn it into a workshop. We had a challenging situation, and Monty and his crew were very creative and efficient in using the space and making the space usable. They were on time, considerate, and cleaned up their work space every day they were here working. His work was impeccable. I give Monty and his crew my highest recommendation.

A local that actually shows up everyday and is a true professional builder. I had Signature Renovators build me a beautiful spec home in which is listed for over 300K. He was spot on with his estimate on cost on building materials just by reviewing the architects blueprints. Even though we got a very late start he promised to have the entire exterior of the home fully completed before snow fall and he delivered as promised which is a surprise in our "Mountain Time" town. The home passed every building inspection perfectly and was a very easy experience. There was no excuses and no corners cut. Ive been in Pagosa for a very long time and this is the only contractor I would recommend. -Lars Schneider

Based on my personal experience with Monty Whitman during an almost $300,000 renovation and new build, I most emphatically do not recommend him.

Monte was easy to work with. He helped to keep my budget within my goal. He and his crew excelled at their carpentry. My shop turned out great!

Monty has now worked on 5 projects for me. He did a rework on one project that another contractor had screwed up , he did a great job on fixing the mess so that I could sell the property. He has done all the work involved in setting up 3 new mobile homes from the dirt work, plumbing, sidewalks, deck building, etc. I'm most impressed with the fact that he doesn't shortcut but does what will look the best and takes pride in the job.

Submitted a very thorough, well-written proposal. The company is very available and returns phone calls, emails. The bid was one of the lowest. There were only a few minor errors in their work, but they were corrected where possible and the overall quality of work was very good. The most important thing about this company is that they contacted us about a change in scope needed due to the roof structure underneath the roof they were replacing being 'not to code'. We were upset that we had to fork more money out for a scope change, but then realized that by them contacting us about this unpopular discovery, we added strength to the structure to avoid future costs down the road. They could just have easily roofed over the weak structure and we would have thought everything was fine. That was a big plus for this company.

I used Monty Whitman and his company to do a MAJOR 2-part renovation of my home in 2010 and 2011. My downstairs was entirely gutted, and he designed a new kitchen, powder room, added a master suite, and an art studio, as well as a patio, walkways, driveway and new cabinets in the upstairs bathrooms. It was done quickly, efficiently, honestly, and friendly. I would truly recommend him to anyone who was considering a renovation.
