My wife and I had the opportunity to have our home built by Shawn Gabel. Shawn designed, and built our home and did an incredible job. Shawn was very well organized and on top of each and every step throughout the process of the build. Shawn has very creative ideas and designs that made our home amazing. The biggest thing that sets Gabel Woodworking apart from other builders is the quality of the work and the fine woodsman ship. I have worked with Shawn Gable for over 17 years. Shawn does great work and is a pleasure to work with and for. The projects that we have done together have been everything from small condos to a 27,000 square foot home. The workmanship is of the highest quality.

We had a very bad experience with Shawn Gabel Wood-working. He is currently showing pictures of our home on his Houzz site as the "Spokane River Remodel". We spent Millions with Gabel trying to reach one broken deadline after the next. We did not do our due diligence in selecting a contractor and it cost us dearly. Shawn was rarely if ever on the site despite repeated agreements that he would be. He did not manage his people and countless mistakes were made and shawn attempted to hide them and bill us for them. Shawn intentionally disregarded structural engineering requirements and left out a major support beam under the main floor and continued to deny doing it but would not provide proof to architects. Architects and experts had to be brought to site to verify shawns deception as entire home was collapsing. Job Foreman confirmed Shawn intentionally refused to follow engineering schematics. Shawn was combative and defensive with Locati Architects who recommended terminating him long before we did. Shawn provided phony contract budgets that grew and grew in value. Shawn would never watch spending or manage money. He would just say "It costs what it costs". Shawn about bankrupted us in our project. Mistakes were made all over because he was never onsite then Shawn expected us to pay to fix mistakes. The painter showed us that Shawn had him do a very expensive 6-step stain & glaze process on nearly 100 EXTRA cabinet doors & drawer fronts that left our project. Where did they go? Shawn wouldn't deny nor make restitution. Our problems went well beyond those described here. Weve had to hire many professionals to repair Gabels mistakes and damages. Shawn tells everyone how great his company is and how he's the best. Shawn kept telling us we were the problem and no one had ever complained before. He provided no professional management system and tried to keep us out of every loop. Shawn was combative when challenged. Instead, Shawn will belittle and demean those who challenge his wok even when those people are world class architects and engineers. Our experience with Shawn was one of the hardest things weve ever experienced and we have 13 pages of problems caused by him. After it all, we signed a contract drawn up by Gabels attorney to settle. Had it not been for Locati Architects, Shawn Gabel would've done far more damage. We are so thankful for their help through this difficult time.
