I hired Brock Architecture to do a bathroom remodel for me in my mid-century Santa Fe home. The existing space was a tiny, low-end master bath adjoining a very shoddily built hot tub room. This was transformed into easily the most beautiful space in my home. The lines are clean,
the two rooms flow into one another, it’s highly functional, and it incorporates all the features
I wanted. The design process was an enjoyable one. It was collaborative and produced a better space than I could have imagined. Some of my favorite elements are a small glass block to let light into the shower, two small windows next to the tub that frame garden elements, a skylight, garden and city views from the west facing window and door, and an openable
window on the shower wall for cross ventilation, This project was done about 14 years ago and
has worn well: it does not look dated. I think the only things I might have added would have been some storage space under the banquette and more age-in place features, both needs I
wasn’t anticipating at the time.
