Sandra Dykes Interior Design

I could tell in the initial interview that Sandra was the right choice for the master bathroom remodel in our old house. She asked all of the right questions about what I hoped to achieve and then guided me throughout the project to that result, suggesting changes and improvements I couldn't have imagined myself, keeping a sharp eye on the costs. She really knows her stuff and is fun to boot! Each and every one of the other professionals she had work on the job (electricians, carpenter, painters, etc.) did exemplary work, kept things as clean as possible and were delights to have in our home. The job included removal of old bamboo paneling, installation of bead board and all new custom-milled trim (wow!), new plumbing and lighting fixtures, and new hardware. This included some sheet rock installation. The painters not only painted the bathroom, but the kitchen, too, and made repairs to old water damage on the living room and hallway ceilings. We are SO pleased!

Sandra has advised and designed projects for me since 2008, working creatively and cooperatively with my existing furnishings and guiding me with decisions on paint and carpet. She has always been immediately responsive to my needs and questions. Her quick "eye" has pointed out details that add that final touch. Her vibrant personality enlivens my house after each visit!

Sandra is a professional with an enthusiastic spirit and love of her tasks to please her clients. She helped me branch out of my stoggy styles to a brighter, more attractive, lively living space for our "family room". She was sensitive to our financial boundries. Going out of her way to help me shop and see new and interesting ideas for the space was extremely helpful. I appreciated her honesty and very creative ideas. Sandra is awesome! I love the way she can rearrange the things you have to give a room a whole new lock. She helped me with a bathroom redo and also rearranging furniture and the rest of my house that really made a difference. She's so much fun to work with!

Sandra is a joy to work with. She listened to what we wanted and helped clarify a plan that we can work on in phases. Sandra visited our Maine vacation house and absolutely transformed the kitchen. She was amazing. We had kept a "yaller" (bright bright yellow!) sink during a renovation, because it had sentimental value, but it overwhelmed the kitchen and stuck out like a sore thumb. Using just a can of yellow paint, and accents from yard and estate sales, she placed color splashes around the kitchen to tie in the sink and it just transformed the room. Even better, we had a new bay window over the sink: Sandra headed out to the barn and came back with an armful of old wooden buoys. She cleaned them up with a wire brush, and I swear, something that was just overlooked out in the barn became things with a patina that you couldn't buy, and that made the window look like something out of a magazine. Sandra's love and energy are so apparent, she loves what she does, which is why she is so good at it. She keeps in mind how you use the space, or how you would like to use it, so that after decorating, you WILL use it, not just look at it, and that you are comfortable with your beautiful new surroundings. It was a great experience!
