Working with Saltonstall Architects was the best decision we made in planning/building our new house. From the start, they were professional, perceptive, thoughtful and efficient. They included us on every decision, met with us regularly and reviewed both the design and the budget. We were living hundreds of miles away during the first half of the construction, but we had complete confidence in their ability to keep things moving in a productive timely manner. Once we were living nearby, C.Jay or Will came out to the sight every week to participate in a weekly meeting with our construction team. They always had something important to offer that we hadn't thought of yet, and worked smoothly with our builders. They were very responsive to our phone calls and emails and got back to us within 24 hours on every question. Most importantly, they listened to us and figured out what kind of house would be just right. They thought carefully about how to blend the new house into an established seaside neighborhood. Their attention to detail - particularly in the baseboard and crown molding was spectacular. People comment all the time on how beautiful the design of the stair case and railing, the curved doorways, fireplace surround, etc. And because of their impeccable taste in windows, the house has so much light . If "windows are the soul of a house", Saltonstall Architects have built us a masterpiece. We can't thank them enough.

We hired Will and his team for a major waterfront project. I can't say enough good things about their creativity, collaborative approach and care for understanding our goals and aspirations. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them for future projects.

We have been clients of Saltonstall Architects for over 22 years, working together on seven projects. They ranged from structural engineering for a 160 year old carriage barn to remodeling an 1850s family farmhouse, to figuring out how to create a three bedroom 1700 sq ft apartment from the loft of a post and beam horse barn, and most recently to the creation of our dream house on the farm property. We worked initially with the talented Bill Saltonstall, the firm’s founder, but most of our experience has been directly with his son, Will Saltonstall. We can say without reservation that Will and his architects, Bill McIlmail, C. Jay, and Wendy Carreau have had a major, positive and creative impact on our lives at East Over Farms. 15 years ago my wife and I hired Saltonstall Architects to design our home for our young growing family. Their goal was to design a house that would fit into the surrounding landscape yet reflect our desire to not have a “cookie cutter custom” home. They also needed to meet our current needs and have it be easily adaptable as we grew older. Through the years we have found that our “I wish we had done this differently “ list has been very small, and I still get compliments from people when they realize where I live. We are very happy with the services provided by Will and Tristan on our new home project. It was our first time building a new home and they were outstanding to work with from start to finish. I give Will Saltonstall and his entire team my highest recommendation. Saltonstall architects designed our custom beach front home on the South Coast of Massachusetts that we build in 2015. We hired Saltonstall after parting ways with our first architect near the end of the design stage. They stepped in and were everything we wanted in an architect partner that the first firm lacked. Knowledgeble, personable, precise, able to listen but be firm when necessary, experienced in building near the water, cognizant of enviromental issues as well as budgetary issues and terrific oversight the general contractor is what you can expect if you hire Saltonstall. I have two comments to summarize our experience with Saltonstall Architects: - I would hire them again in a second. - After a year of living in it, there is only one thing I would change about the house that they designed for us - I would have made the master tub 2 " wider. In other words - perfect !

We are extremely satisfied with the design and site placement. Will and Tristan LISTENED carefully and were able to design a home to fulfill our dreams and wishes. We worked well together and they put as much thought into it as if they were building it for themselves.
