After he repaired a gate leg table for us last year, We asked if he could improve our fireplace mantle. Came by to measure, and shortly thereafter came back and installed another layer to the mantle, making it higher and wider and another inch out from the wall. Then hand made dentil molding below that. Very detailed. Did a fantastic job!!!

Stephen refinished a rocking chair that has been in the family for probably 100 years. He did an outstanding job! Looks better than new!

Stephen restored my Mother's 1947 Hope Chest. When I dropped it off it was a dark/black, scratched mahogany color and it was damaged with a broken leg. The finished product was beautiful. Stephen had removed the finish and it was now a lighter color which showed the lovely details of the piece. All broken/damaged areas were repaired. It now looks like a brand new piece. The difference is amazing! All phone conversations were with Caitlin (Stephen's wife). She was so helpful and knowledgable. She was a pleasure to deal with. Stephen refinished a maple table & chairs for us. The table was my grandmother's so it is a very special piece to me. It had an ugly paint/stain finish on it for many years. After we talked with Stephen, we decided to go ahead and have him work on the set. The result was amazing, so much so that it brought me to tears (sentimentality)! The set matches so beautifully now. My family has numerous items of 19th century furniture handed down to the present generations in a heritage farmhouse property located in an adjacent town, Most of these pieces lack factory markings and were probably produced by local craftsmen of the time.. Over the last few years, Stephen Adams has taken one or more items over the winter months, doing small repairs, tightening, cleaning, etc. with the goal of restoring functionality but leaving as much of original finishes in place as possible to preserve authenticity and value. Only once did a surface blemish reappear, and he made a courtesy "house call" with tools and materials and fully remedied the problem that had not been anticipated. We deeply appreciate the care with which Stephen and his wife transport our furniture to and from his workshop. We have not purchased replica items from Stephen, nor asked him to design anything for us. Please consult comments from other reviewers about the full range of his capabilities, especially for 17th century specialization.

Stephen repaired a piano that was damaged by a water leak. He was very respectful of our piece and very helpful when we were weighing the options about how to proceed with the restoration/repair. Stephen and his wife are a great team as she answered our calls a couple of times. His furniture is beautiful and I am confident you will be pleased with all products and service. I have no hesitation with this recommendation.

We have a cherry dining room table and chairs that are well made but 25 years old and showing their age. There were several water spots and some loose rungs and legs. One captain's chair had taken a tumble and there were 2 broken and missing turned stiles in the back. Stephen not only turned perfect replacements, he matched the color and finish so well that it is impossible to discern which parts are original and which are repair parts.

Steve made me a bar height table and four chairs out of maple. Stunning. They are shaker style, very simple, clean lines. The chairs are the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. We started out discussing style and wood, and Steve sent me some wood samples. We discussed the chairs quite a bit; I live in Florida and didn't want any cushions or upholstery, my children are adults and I wanted them to be comfortable sitting around the table for awhile after a meal. Steve surpassed my wildest dreams. My children refer to the dining set as "the heirloom", and that is an apt description of the quality of his work. They are things of beauty, crafted by hand, with a long life ahead of them. I highly recommend Steve's work. His skills are superlative.
