RW Stokes is EXCELLENT!! We hired them over 20 years ago to install a Ludowici barrel tile roof. Not only was it beautiful, it has been the lowest maintenance thing in our house. RW Stokes did an amazing install. Even better, they performed maintenance and maintained the tiles it in a very professional and timely manner. I hired R W Stokes to re-do my slate roof in November of 2008. I paid for the crew to come to Chattanooga from Atlanta because I wanted someone with experience in slate who would do the job right. Now, 8 1/2 years later, my roof is in worse shape than the original which had stood for 78 years. There are awful dark streaks down the roof, which get progresively worse. I first noticed just a bit of this right after the roof was put on. When I contacted Mr. Stokes about it, he said that it would come off with the first hard rain, which obviously was not the case. In addition, I now have missing and broken tiles. I have consulted a couple of different roofers here in town about fixing it, and they both said that it looks as if it wasn't done properly to start with. My roof is now an embarrassment instead of something I can take pride in. Instead of adding to my home, it makes it look neglected and run down. When I contacted Mr. Stokes about these problems a few years back, he told me that the warranty was only good for 1 year. I was appalled, but then when I looked back through all of the info and papers I received from him, there was no copy of a warranty at all...foolish on my part not to have that made clear. When he did the work, he told me that the roof ought to last for 100 years.

Great roofing company. They repaired the flashing on my chimney, which required significant coordination with my masonry contractor. They also performed general repairs to my slate roof. All work was done in a superb manner and the team was extremely professional. I can unconditionally recommend this company to others.

The company replaced the slate roof and all the gutters and down spouts. There were very professional and respectful of my property. They are talented and stand behind their work.

I have used Ron and his crew on several projects in the past year, including two very large slate projects with lots of copper detailing. As a contractor in the remodeling business for more than 20 years, I have used my share of roofers. Ron definitely rises to the top, with his craftsmanship, ability to handle difficult situations, and his communication skills. He is not the cheapest by any means, but I have learned over the years how expensive it is to try to repair a slate or tile roof that was not installed properly.
