Quinlan Terry Architects LLP (QTA) is an award winning firm of architects who specialise in designing high quality new buildings in a classical and traditional style. Their design philosophy is to make the new buildings fit so well into their context that they look like they have always been there. They have considerable success at designing schemes which obtain planning consents for contentious sites both urban and rural; achieving planning permission for new country houses under PPG7, PPS7 and NPPF paragraph 55.
The practice has worked on many significant buildings both in the UK and overseas including; The State Rooms at 10 Downing Street, Brentwood Cathedral, the New Infirmary at Royal Hospital Chelsea, 20-32 Baker Street, 264-267 Tottenham Court Road, Queen Mother Square in Poundbury and Merchants Square in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
For the initial design work, the practice draws much of their work by hand. As the project develops, these drawings are detailed fully in CAD for ease of use and delivery of the design. The office uses Microstation and Autocad for working drawings and Rhino3D and Sketch up for 3D work.
