Peter Novak Building & Design refurbished a wrap around deck on my home. As there was considerable dry rot, there was considerable cutting and treating and then supplementing the existing structure. Most pleasing was the firm's seeking out and finding a couple of gorgeous, 20 section of a flawless and knot free 2 x 8 redwood board for the balustrade. Work was well and safely done and the work has held up perfectly for about 10 years now.

I have served with Peter Novak at the Santa Barbara Contractors Association and I can tell you that he has served that board very well. Peter is very respected by his peers and those that know him. Peter is also my customer and a pleasure to deal with. He is honest, intelligent and knowledgeable.

Peter Novak is the "best of the best" regarding general contractors. He has a great eye for design in planning a project. Peter is great at problem solving. The remodel was completed on time despite some unanticipated problems/changes that needed to be implemented. The subcontractors he works with were conscientious and always showed up on schedule. If not for Peter Novak, I would not have been able to rebuild after the Tea Fire. He kept costs down, explained everything thoroughly to me, and kept a detailed accounting of all the different charges. He arranged for a new septic system and re-doing the foundation. Not only that, but he was very patient with me. I was in shock after our house burned down and he understood my feelings. When I said that I was interested in a modular home, he replied that he had never done a project like that before, but he was willing to learn. He did his homework and I ended up with a beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that I could afford. Peter is experienced in making cabinets and worked very closely with the modular home design people on the cabinets in my new home. Everyone who has ever seen my house remarks on the awesome cabinets. Peter is an ultimate professional and I recommend him highly.

We have collaborated on several design/ built residences for the past several years. The projects ranged from a bathroom or kitchen remodel to a ground up custom house. Peter takes pride in his finished work, because he oversees all aspects of the project from the initial client meetings through the owner taking occupancy and all (which there are many) phases in between. He makes sure that his crew is on time and on budget. He pays particular attention to the details so that the final results are achieved and meets the clients satisfaction. We interviewed and received bids from more than one contractor and we chose Peter Novak based on several factors including his sensitivity to our needs and requirements (he really listened to us and responded in such a way that we knew he heard us) which were considerable, his design expertise, his attention to detail, his respect for, and willingness to work with, our architect and his design, his ability to communicate clearly, and his patience with our decision-making process. The project took seven months which was the amount of time Peter estimated. The project finished within budget. Peter was on site every day, all day. The end product is an aesthetically beautiful and comfortable living space. We could not be happier with every aspect of the experience we had with Peter. We would hire him again in a minute and have recommended him to many.
