Pete's Concrete

Poured all new concrete in both the front and back yard including patio slabs, stairs, and walkways. The workers kept the work area clean during the process and were overall polite if you didn't overhear any general conversations. The job looked good upon completion with the exception that no extra topsoil was brought in to backfill the area where the forms were trenched, so the job did not look finished and it could have potentially been a hazard if anyone accidentally stepped off the walkway. I requested an exposed aggregate look but given what I know now may have approached the job differently. The stone was too exposed and in area's the rocks continued to pop out of the cement and now there are exposed holes. My fear is that as water expands and contract it will have a negative effect in these areas but I hope I'm wrong. Additionally, there are giant cracks throughout the pour. We now have cracks and the job no longer looks good or professionally done. We made several attempts to let the contractor know both via phone and email that the job was faulty and given the product and installation guarantee we where hoping to have the issues addressed but to date we have not heard back. We paid the contractor in full when the job was complete and I wish there was some way to hold back a portion of the funds 'in trust', so that within the year if the workmanship falters or products breaks down, you at least get a portion of your payment refunded.
