We did a lot of research and interviewing to find the right architect for our new build contemporary home in West Sussex, built mainly in timber, glass and concrete We were very fortunate to find Penton Architects as it transpired that they had flair and imagination in their design and , unusually, a very solid background in physical construction enabling them to design a building that could be effectively delivered by the contractor with no major issues and deal with any construction issues on site when they arose They are very responsive and swift to respond on queries and issues and a pleasure to work with.

Working with Penton Architects was a complete and utter joy from beginning to end. We undertook a large kitchen extension project which took several months to complete as it was a large space and involved moving a staircase and reconfiguring part of the first floor. Because of the size and complexity of the build it was necessary to engage an architect and we are so pleased we did - Adam came up with an innovative and beautiful design, while providing solutions to some tricky problems. What we now have is an incredibly beautiful, contemporary and unique space. The whole process was a breeze from design onwards - and Penton Architects were always available to answer any question I had, no matter how small. They supported us the whole way through and we couldn't have done it without them.

Really listened to what we wanted but gave ideas in line with those requirements to enhance the overall result. A clear view on light and space, practical living issues and solutions. We felt Adam really spent the time to consider not just the location and site, but what was important to us and what would work.

Penton Architects really listened to our requirements and came up with creative ideas and a design that gave us so much more than we had thought about ourselves. They have a refreshingly contemporary, cutting edge, modern style. They worked so well with our builders and kept the project on track and ensured that construction fully followed the brief. Their attention to detail was impressive. It was a very enjoyable experience, that has left us with a fantastic result and a space that really works for our family and lifestyle.

In a word, sensational!! We considered four architecture firms before selecting Penton Architects at the back end of 2016 for a substantial £300K build/conversion. Adam Penton took the project from initial conceptual discussions, onto design, through gaining planning permission, to builder selection and we have retained him as our "trusted advisor" thoughout the build. The project is nearly complete. Penton Architects’ brief was to turn an 80s Scandia Hus "pine" bungalow into a contemporary modern home. They excelled at this challenge. Adam is everything you would want from an Architect. Visionary, practical, accurate, responsive, sensitive, easy to work with and our builder works very well with him. He is respected by him. Very highly recommended!!

We first met Adam from Penton Architects at a our previous property and were very impressed. Although we didn't carry out any work when we bought our current property we called him straight away. They have provided us with full architectural drawings, taken us through planning application, putting the project out to tender and been on hand if there were queries. We found their service friendly and good value for money. I would highly recommend them.

We have lived with our fabulous kitchen extension for over seven years now. Our brief was to knock down an old conservatory and bathroom extension and replace with a new open plan kitchen /living space incorporating lots of wood and glass with a green roof above. What sets our extension apart is the ceiling height and use of glass. We hadn't considered the possibility of designing an extension that reached as high as the first floor window above. Adam came up with the idea to raise the ceiling - therefore creating space and drama and opening up the views through the house to the gardens at the rear. We are now very lucky to be living with an extraordinary expansive design, within a fairly ordinary narrow Victorian townhouse. The extension has stood the test of time for our growing family - three little boys and a new puppy. The floor space has proved adaptable for our needs - generous enough for indoor scootering and football matches - yet cosy and glamorous at night for a dinner party with the indoor lights dimmed and the garden lights on. We really trust Adam and feel that his attention to the detailing and his professionalism are of the highest quality. My husband and I hired Penton Architects to remodel and extend our house into a home to fit our family needs, including creating an open plan family room/kitchen, playroom and utility. We found the Pentons professional, flexible and very easy to work with. They are creative and artistic and very good at conveying the end result through drawings and models. The beautiful surrounding countryside to the South that used to be obscured from view is now a focus of our kitchen/ living room. We all love our new space. Pricing was clear and open from the beginning and we were helped and advised through the tendering process. When we chose a builder we chose to use the Pentons on a 'when required' basis, this worked well for us and the project continued smoothly through to the end. It was our first building project and I was thrilled that it ran on time, on budget and without hitch. Highly recommended!

Penton Architects offer a professional, friendly, creative and flexible service and if you are thinking of a contemporary look we highly recommend them and would use them again without hesitation. When we were looking for an architect we met with about six different companies and individuals, none of whom seemed like the right fit. Then we found Adam & Annelise Penton. My husband and I came out of our initial meeting with them and said to each other "Finally, we've found someone we can work with!". Our search was over. We dealt mainly with Adam, who listened to our vision for our home and did a great job accommodating this without compromising the overall design. We live in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so were limited with the changes we could make on the outside of the building. The Pentons managed to achieve a smooth transition from the reasonably traditional outside to create a more contemporary feel inside - not an easy thing to do. The process of designing and building your home or extension can be stressful at times and Adam was like an island of calm amidst the chaos! He was patient and supportive throughout, providing the knowledge and know-how we we needed - we felt were in a safe pair of hands.
