Wow! Nick of Rose City Construction has restored my faith in contractors. After interviewing several firms, I chose Nick and his team to remodel my 1924 kitchen and laundry. My little old house was in much need of attention. This is what Nick excels at...his attention to the smallest details. From day one, I respect the fact that he and his team treated my home as if it was their own. I knew every single day what to expect and Nick always let me know if something came up. What was most important to me, is that the remodeled rooms match the architectural style and character of the rest of the house and that's what Nick gave me. I lived in the front of the house during project. Nick and his team helped me set up a temp kitchen in the dining room that worked out fine. I know I might have saved money going with another firm, but when it comes to quality and exceptional craftsmanship I highly recommend Rose City Construction. You won't be disappointed.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Nick and his team at Rose City Construction. He just finished a remodel of the masterbath in our Pasadena condo and we're already talking to him about remodeling the guest bath next. The quality of the work is outstanding and, throughout the entire process, Nick was incredibly kind, professional and made us feel at ease. He communicated clearly and often, gave us options (and explained the reasoning behind those options and the pros and cons of each). The crew was wonderful as well, top-notch in their areas of expertise, respectful of our home and great at daily clean-up to minimize the disruption to our lives. I also really appreciated that Nick understood our goals for the project and tailored his recommendations to that. We wanted something nice and modern and quality, but we didn't want to go crazy since this is a condo and definitely not our "forever home". At the same time, I'd definitely trust him with projects in that "forever home" when the day comes. We've worked with some others in the past with less than stellar experiences, and I can't express how good it feels to have found a construction partner we trust in Rose City.

On the recommendation of a friend, I contracted with Rose City Construction to renovate my outdated 1950s kitchen. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Rose City Construction at a 10 plus from start to finish. Past experience has taught me the importance of having and maintaining an open line of communication with my contractor. Nick Kalandjian did not disappoint. Nick is an excellent communicator, takes charge, resolves problems, and exacts a standard of excellence from his employees. The kitchen renovation was completed within 3 months, all with a minimum of inconvenience to me considering that the gutted kitchen required an extensive plumbing and electrical upgrade at the outset. Every code inspection passed without problem. Thanks to Nick and the dedicated crew of Rose City Construction, my renovated kitchen is a dream come true.

I used Nick and his crew on two projects - a kitchen remodel in 2012 and a bathroom remodel in 2015. Both experiences were excellent. Rose City helped me with the design and permits, and made suggestions that worked better with my budget. He communicated very frequently and went out of his way to give us as easy a time as possible during construction. Trustworthy and hardworking, I will use them in the future for sure.

In the fall of 2013, we raised the possibility of a remodeled kitchen with Nick of Rose City Construction, only to learn that he was booked until the following June. We had little vacation time to oversee the project except for Christmas, so I later asked him if we could develop a plan to construct around the Holidays. Nick agreed, and we settled on a plan that involved no movement of walls, no electrical or plumbing changes, and located the new appliances in the same positions. The new cabinets and countertops needed to be accurately measured and fabricated in advance in order to be available when needed in the construction plan. In addition, the new appliances had to be available, and delivered, to be on-site and ready for installation when called for in the plan. The work started in mid-November, with our old appliances and the new ones located in the garage, and our dining room cordoned off so that we could have breakfast and dinner at home during the construction. The plan allowed everyone (the workers and us) several days off around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. All of these elements transpired faultlessly, even accommodating a short delay in cabinet fabrication, as Nick had built-in several slack days for unforeseen circumstances. The new kitchen was finished at the end of the first week in January, as planed. We turned the worst room in our home into one of the best, and we think about Nick and his workers whenever we are cooking there together.

I highly recommend Rose City Construction. Nick and his crew are wonderful to work with and I actually enjoyed the remodel process. Nick is also very good at design and working with the client to achieve the desired look and functionality. We hired Rose City Construction under five contracts to, effectively, completely remodel our house. Knowing that we couldn't finance a complete remodel all at once, Nick worked with us to ensure that we have a seamless design even though we broke it down for multiple projects over four years; it looks like we did the remodel all at once. Nick and his employees and subs are professionals, honest, and hard-working. We especially appreciated that Nick's change orders never exceeded 5% of the contract price. Another plus: we were able to live in our house throughout all of the remodel projects because of Nick's ability to stage work around our needs and because his workers are so pleasant to be around (no swearing, no yelling, they clean up daily, and they are just all nice people). You will be happy you hired Rose City Construction.

Nick and his company were recommended by a co-worker who was already having his 3rd home remodel project done by Rose City Construction. We couldn't have been happier with the tip! Nick very clearly laid out the scope of work and scheduling, walked us through every step of the process, and helped us find vendors for flooring, tile, counter tops and lighting where he was able to pass on a discount. He helped us find a less expensive vendor to remove asbestos flooring and popcorn ceiling for the project, smoothed and primed all the walls and ceilings, installed pre-made cabinets that we had ordered, put in engineered hardwood flooring, installed quartz counter tops, lighting, and a gorgeous subway tile backsplash, and flawlessly installed all of our new appliances along with the necessary new plumbing and electrical. Nick and his crew were professional, always on time, and we were impressed with how clean and ordered they left our home at the end of each day. Our 3 year old looked forward to the crew's arrival every morning, and no matter how busy they were, Nick and Gary always made time to talk with him and show him the tools and materials he was interested in. They are a class act. I really felt like we never had to worry about the quality of the work they did in our home. Nick and his crew WANTED to do a good job. Rose City Construction never cut corners and even went the extra mile on taking care of things that we didn't think to ask about or know to care about. We had pipes running to our kitchen sink that were not correctly positioned within the framing of the house, and not only did they re-route everything correctly, they even put in insulation where there never had been any before. I got a call one rainy day because some of our vents were leaking on the roof. Nick went out then and there to buy sealant and he and his crew climbed onto our roof in the rain to make everything ok. The job was completed efficiently and our beautiful kitchen was done during the quicker time frame of the estimate. I would definitely call them again - in fact, we've already asked for an estimate to remodel the master bath.
