Additional notes are also spelled-out in fine print, to further guide our electrical, sub-contractor colleagues down the road and out in the field. He's available for questions and efficiently provides insight. We just completed an extensive remodel, requiring gutting most of our house and completely redoing the lighting. While working on the lighting plan, I realized I was in way over my head, and the quality of light – particularly in the evenings – is very important to me. I wanted to change most of the fixtures to LED, but I wanted the lighting to be the really beautiful, warm lighting that I’ve loved with my previous halogen lights. I looked around on Houzz and decided to call Nelson Reeds, and I’m so glad I did! He quickly and fearlessly jumped into a complex project that was underway, and from the first phone call put me at ease that we could achieve what I was hoping for. Nelson is a great listener, asking me questions about what I wanted, and talking through potential solutions. He gave great explanations with just enough detail to help me understand and make decisions. He’s great at taking notes and getting back quickly on all of the things he says he’ll do – which is unfortunately not as common a trait as it should be. The electrician said he’s the best and easiest lighting designer he’s ever worked with. And he literally followed up on even the smallest details – including an evening spent focusing all of the lights, and a great spreadsheet of the proper bulbs for all of my fixtures. Most important of all, he created an absolutely beautiful lighting design. I can’t describe how gorgeous these dim-to-warm LED lights are! They’re bright white during the day, but as they’re dimmed, they create a glowing ambiance. I’m so happy to have found Nelson, and I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Nelson did a fantastic job with our whole home remodel! His design ideas and suggestions took our basic concept to a much higher level. Nelson was very responsive when we had questions and his documentation made it easy for contractors to pull the design together in practice. I own a lighting design firm in Calgary, Canada. Nelson provided lighting design assistance for a few projects I had on the go during the short time he lived here. It's rare to find someone with strong technical skills as a lighting designer - Nelson adds excellent communicator, project manager, dedication, and creativity to the mix. My wife and I were introduced to Nelson by a kitchen designer we hired. Nelson is in commercial lighting, having done a major airport, conversion of a large corporate headquarters to a hotel, among other very large projects. He happens to live in our town and it was convenient for him to help us with a residential project. Nelson looked at our kitchen plan and described what he had in mind. It sounded great! The next day I received a CAD lighting plan and all the spec sheets for the products he recommended. Nelson stopped by several times to check on things and ultimately to program the switching system. The electricians really enjoyed working with Nelson and they learned a great deal from him. The lighting in our kitchen is a highlight. The cost was reasonable for such a sophisticated plan. Nelson is a pro's pro, and it is clearly reflected in our kitchen. We were really fortunate to be able to work with him and we highly recommend him.
