A passion to create interior spaces that reflect the unique tastes and lifestyles of the people that live and work in them is what led Michelle Neels to open her Interior Design business in 2004. Her portfolio includes commissions throughout the Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara and Montecito. Projects vary from residential to hospitality and range in style from traditional, to rustic to contemporary. Great communication and attention to detail is what makes Michelle Neels Interior Design stand out. She takes the utmost care in ensuring each and every project is an enjoyable and seamless experience for her clients. Michelle has access to all of the latest resources and “to the trade only” vendors as well as relationships with a wide range of crafts and trades people. Michelle’s design philosophy focuses on the client. She prides herself on listening carefully and tailoring each design to the specific project variables. Michelle does not have one signature style, instead recognizing each client’s unique set of needs and wants, likes and dislikes, and lifestyle or brand. Michelle stresses the importance of” thoughtful design” i.e.: how the space will function and feel to its intended inhabitants.

We originally thought that hiring Michelle would be a "nice option" for our remodel, something that would help us on a few items where we needed extra input. Little did we realize how indispensable she would actually become, helping us determine the overall theme/style and then making sure the dozens and dozens of decisions regarding floor-plan, color, fixtures, and amenities fit into that theme. Michelle knows how to listen and learn about clients' needs and lifestyles, so the end result definitely feels like "us" rather than someone else's home, but having her here saved us an incredible amount of time, frustration, and money. We simply would not have gotten through the process without having her encouragement and creative hard work supporting us every step of the way. Her bright smile got us through many a stressful day. Kudos to Michelle from Dennis and Ron. Highly, highly recommended.

We just finished our second project with Michelle and both have exceeded our expectations. Michelle, on both occasions, spent the time necessary to meet with us and understand our vision for the project. She is quite adept at translating broad ideas into a manageable number of concepts and suggestions, and equally adept at finding the solutions, materials, and contractors to transform the ideas into reality. Both of our projects had time and budget restrictions, and both times, Michelle and her team easily met our goals. Michelle was always willing to discuss details with us, and even meet with us at various suppliers and show rooms. She was also willing to pre-interview prospective subcontractors she knows can do the work well, on time, and within budget, and to make all the adjustments necessary to complete our dreams. Our family room and kitchen are now both beautiful and functional. I can’t tell you how many details we would have missed if not for the calm, reasoned counsel of Michelle. Additionally, she does what is necessary behind the scenes to make any project great and we would certainly recommend her to anyone desiring design assistance.

Michelle brought strong ideas to work with myself and my partner. She was wonderfully organized, had great follow-up and was willing to help in any way requested. We were a small restaurant project and had to be completed in very short time and she helped us meet our deadline. Graciously handled interferance with difficult suppliers. We would have enjoyed a little more stretch in her creativity and reach for ideas.

Michelle took our tasting room vision, and made it reality! She took the time to find the best product while staying within our budget. She was efficient and made sure our project was always on schedule. I loved that she kept the character and charm of our tasting room, but added a rustic touch, which is perfect for the Santa Ynez Valley! She worked with all local contractors, and sourced as many products locally as she could! The contractors she hired were professional, efficient, and true craftsman! I would highly recommend Michelle and Michelle Neels Interior Design to anyone looking for a complete remodel, or an update to your current home or business!

We have worked with Michelle on many projects for almost 10 years. She has helped us create the home of our dreams. Michelle is great at listening to your requests and translating them into reality, all while staying within budget. We rely on her extensive knowledge of the industry and her many business contacts. We highly recommend Michelle for interior design.

Michelle Neels and her staff were integral in the remodel of my Solvang ranch. Michelle had daily interaction with the general contractor, sub-contractors, furnishing manufacturers and landscape installation crews. Michelle was involved in the design of the interior and exterior of my home, barn and office. She was responsible for all material and fixture choices, paint schemes and colors, kitchen appointments and all furnishings as well as the time line to complete the project on schedule. Michelle has a way of taking my thoughts and words and turning them into a reality with furnishings, fabric, paint colors and décor items. Michelle and her staff completed the project to my specifications and I highly recommend her in any endeavor in which you may wish to employ her services. Chris
