Mia Heiman Design

Mia helped me to choose fabrics to reupholster my antique furniture. She found modern and versatile fabrics that also stayed true to the antique nature of the pieces. Mia also advised on paint colors, window dressings, and hanging art work. Mia was thoughtful about every detail - down to the placement of books on my bookshelf. She has an excellent visual memory and can recall details weeks later to make sure that everything flows together beautifully. I felt like Mia really listened to me and worked to tailor the final effect to my style without breaking the budget. Because we are renting our house, I did not want to invest in permanent pieces and Mia helped me to find cost-effective alternatives. I hope to continue working with her for many years!!

Mia helped us with two re-modeling projects in our mid century home. One was a bathroom, that we just could not conceptualize, because we were trying to expropriate part of a hallway on one side and part of a very deep closet on another. Mia was immediately able to see the possibilities and to design a beautiful space. She advised and respected our choices with regard to lighting, tile, cabinetry, and fixtures. We have been completely happy with the finished project. Our second project with Mia was a master bathroom and bedroom re-model. She recommended changing the orientation of the room, which also opened up the room to a view that we had previously been missing. She worked closely with a furniture builder to create a unique dresser, platform bed and end tables that were a blend of our needs, her design, and his construction. She chose dramatic lighting that defines the room, and again helped us with color schemes and our choices in fixtures, tile, and cabinetry. I am especially impressed with Mia's ability to work with all the other craftsmen, including painters, carpenters, cabinet makers, furniture makers, to maintain the integrity of her design and advocate for our wishes.

Mia is incredibly talented and a great partner! Her expertise and collaborative nature made working working with her a pleasure.

I was particularly impressed with Mia's ability to communicate with the clients and guide them to good choices. A bathroom remodel led to other larger projects once they understood her simple solutions produced a sophisticated design. As the contractor, I appreciated the promptness to our RFI requests and her overall follow through on the projects. After completing the master suite, it was evident that she had transformed the clients experience of living in their home.
