Have known & used Duane & Pierre Mathis for many years. Over the years they have 1) replaced siding on our house and fixed our Bay Window installation (installed by another contractor, oops!), 2) installed two French Doors, 3) remodeled our kitchen the first time, 4) replaced our HVAC and recently 5) due to a broken pipe causing a flood extensively remodeled our first floor, which consisted of a total remodel of our kitchen, removal of two load bearing walls for a completely open floor plan, removed 1/2 wall to open our stairwell, remodeled our downstairs bathroom , installed a beverage center (made wife very happy!) and made a mini storage area under our stairwell.. During our extensive remodel, Duane/Pierre and their team discovered a significant plumbing problem. Other contractors would have patched and/or simply ignored, but not Mathis Construction. Due to their diligence, we replaced all of our downstairs plumbing to avoid very serious future plumbing problems (old plumbing was severely corroded). In all instances, quality of work was exceptional. Family, friends and guests marvel at our downstairs remodel. Wife loves her new kitchen! Duane/Pierre are now remodeling our upstairs bathroom. Confident craftsmanship and quality will again be exceptional. Can't say enough about Duane/Pierre, as well as their subcontractors, on quality, skill, craftsmanship and integrity. Importantly, Duane/Pierre coordinate/monitor the entire construction process from beginning to end. And, my wife likes them because job site at end of each day is always clean and free of any debris. Never any worries with Mathis Construction!!!!

We first hired Duane and Pierre Mathis 15 years ago to renovate our house from top to bottom except for the kitchen. Not only were they reliable, clean, candid and careful, but they had great ideas to address conditions which our architect did not anticipate. They knew the permitting and inspection process well. We lived in the house during the renovation and did not experience any hardship or interruption in our daily lives. Each day tools were put away and work areas cleaned up. The project was finished on time at exactly the costs they quoted for items within the scope of the project. They were also very good at communicating work that would be outside the scope before it was performed and making alternative suggestions for handling unexpected discoveries (an inevitable part of renovating an older house). Duane and Pierre are wonderful carpenters! The subcontractors who have worked with them for generations (their dad started the business) were also courteous, clean and reliable. And after the project was finished, Duane, Pierre and their subs have been available practically on call if we have other small projects. We have been so impressed by the quality and timeliness of Duane and Pierre’s work that we have hired them for two major projects since. The most recent was a total kitchen renovation in 2016 which they handled with professionalism and care. They also worked well with our outside designer. We are so happy with the results of all their work that we have recommended them several times to others who have been very pleased with their work as well. My only reluctance in recommending them is that they will be too busy to take on my next project when it comes up!

At my first contact with Mathis Construction, I requested a list of references before proceeding further. Duane Mathis, one of the principals, gave me a list of 16 names, all of whom returned my call and stated that Duane and his brother, Pierre, were not only honest but exceptionally clean. They have decades of experience working together and working under the tutelage of their father who was also in the industry. Their subcontractors have worked with them for decades and share their high level of professionalism and quality workmanship. Based on these fine recommendations, I did not seek estimates from other contractors. My remodel encompassed the kitchen, family room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a laundry room which was almost half of my 2720 square foot house built in the 1960s. The workmanship was impeccable and I was advised of available options at each stage. The billing was detailed with specific descriptions and amounts attributable to each contractor so there was never any surprises. There were of course change orders as I added to the list of improvements. Demolition began in December of 2016 and the remodel was essentially completed by April of 2017. The only delay was self-imposed as I searched for the perfect bathroom mirror and pendant lights for the kitchen counter. I am gearing up to finish remodeling the rest of the house with Mathis Construction. Duane and Pierre can add me as the 17th person on their list of references.

Duane and Pierre of Mathis Construction, Inc. are by far, the best contractors my husband and I have ever hired. Over the past 15 years, we've done 4 remodels between the Bay Area and Southern California - I wish each could have been as seamless as working with Mathis Construction. During the planning phase, they were extremely patient with all our demands and gave very balanced suggestions to our plans. Their experience with obtaining City permits and working with City Planners was an enormous benefit. Each of their workers were top notch; plumber, electrician, custom cabinet, marble installation, drywall, painter... every single worker was on time, very professional, and most importantly - CLEAN. We remodeled:added over 1,000 square feet, including our kitchen - and several of our neighbors could not believe we were under construction due to the cleanliness of the site. Most importantly, Duane's quote was spot on - no added costs or surprises. Thank you - we absolutely LOVE our remodel.

Mathis construction did a fantastic job for our house remodel project. Their work is exacting and precise, and to the highest professional standards. They also take great care to keep their work space clean and tidy, and have a great deal of integrity when it comes to the business side of contracting.

Mathis Construction completed 2 projects for us. The first was a complete remodel (down to the studs) of our kitchen. The second was a master bathroom remodel (again, down to the studs) and installation of wood flooring in the master bedroom and on 2 sets of stairs. I cannot speak highly enough about the craftsmanship and work ethic of Duane and Pierre Mathis. They remodelled our kitchen 13 years ago, and it looks like new! The master bathroom remodel was 10 yrs ago and it also looks brand new. Their bids were always clear with everything spelled out. Because we were doing remodels (vs new construction), we didn't always know what might be behind a given wall. But for any problems, Duane and Pierre had great ideas/solutions with particular attention to detail. Their woodwork is superb. Their subs are excellent. They are very good communicators, low key, and punctual. At the end of their work day, they clean up any mess which is much appreciated when there are young children around. I give Mathis Construction my highest recommendation!

Duane and Pierre Mathis were extremely helpful from start to finish. Not having previous experience with a kitchen and bath renovation project, they skillfully walked us through all the necessary steps. They connected us with the highest quality local sources for tile and countertops. Their sub-contractors are long-time trusted professionals who completed excellent quality work. I have hired Mathis Construction for several projects through the years, large and smaller. Their work has been consistently excellent and of high quality. We hired Mathis Construction to do a complete remodel to our 2nd floor. We changed the footprint completely and added a new bedroom suite and bathroom and reconfigured the kitchen. We couldn't be happier with the process and the outcome. Mathis was spot on with the budget and time frame. The work was beautiful and perfectly executed. Over the last ten or so years, we used Mathis Construction on multiple home construction projects including installation of three sets of French doors, remodeling our master bath, remodeling master bedroom's and three additional bedrooms' closets, modification of two additional bathrooms, remodeling and reconstruction of interior stairs, installation of two floors of hardwood floors, repair then installation of a floor of stone work, installation of new heating and dehumidification systems, installation of new garage door, construction of exterior stairs, installation of new windows to include some with cut glass and installation of new doors throughout our home. The work was performed highly professionally, cleanly and, given the scope of the work, relatively quickly. We are very pleased with the work. More pleasing still is that the contractor has kept in contact with us and assisted in resolution of other minor issues homeowners experience which dealt with work performed by other contractors. This contractor has our trust and to the extent we have other work performed, we will use this contractor's services.

The repairs ended up being more serious than we had anticipated and we became thankful that we had hired Duane and Pierre to complete this work for us.
