Lisa Burdus Interior Design

After living in a large Victorian home for so long we decided to downsize to a new apartment close to the CBD but were very conscious of retaining the warm and inviting feel that an old home provides and more often than not a brand new apartment doesn't. A friend had had her home decorated by Lisa Burdus and i knew immediately that she was the person i was looking for. Lisa's genuine warmth as a person struck me immediately. We sat down and discussed the look i was after and she understood immediately the concept of what it was we wanted but could never achieve ourselves. Over the ensuing months I met with Lisa regularly as did my husband and daughter who were very much encouraged to engage in the process. Her ideas were amazing and we loved everything, however, if we were hesitant she worked with us to encourage us to trust her or was totally willing to source something else. Not only did Lisa source all the furniture, blinds, curtains, wallpaper, paint, soft furnishings, some artwork, outdoor furniture, indoor and outdoor plants, lighting and rugs she also had joinery custom made for us - done so well that it looks like it has always been there and not added at a later stage. In our daughter's very oddly shaped bedroom Lisa designed joinery that houses an upright piano and created a space that our 19 year old adores. Lisa's expertise in putting colours, fabrics and textures together and knowing where to source them is incredible. What was a very modern, basic brand new apartment with an amazing view of Sydney harbour and the city has become our dream home. Before Lisa decorated friends and family went straight to the balcony to admire the view. After Lisa's magic they now linger inside and the view has become a second thought. Working with Lisa and her assistant Alex was an absolute pleasure and i would have no hesitation in recommending her as an amazing interior designer. We are absolutely thrilled with what she has done for us and look forward to working with her again as our needs change. I would not consider working with anyone else.

Lisa was amazing. She responded to my initial brief immediately to furnish and style the interiors of our home. She understood and respected my new home, even though it was very different to what she would probably normally undertake. She made a very modern home with white walls look loved in and amazing and interspersed pieces we owned with what she chose. Lisa is also an amazing person to work with - calm, totally efficient and outlined the process of how she would work in great detail so I totally understood it. Our budget was tight and she somehow managed to pull together a beautiful look. A perfect job and a lovely, professional person to deal with. I will certainly have her back again next year to do some more work for us.

We renovated an older house back in 2014, and finally decided to furnish it properly back in 2016. This is where the magic of Lisa begins! Having only minimal experience with designers before, I was somewhat apprehensive. However, all my concerns were immediately abated upon meeting with Lisa and throughout the design journey. Down to earth, she loves to hear the client's input and utilize their personality in furnishing the rooms to suit both budget and style. At the same time, she encourages new ideas which never disappoint! Friends and family love the atmosphere of comfort which she has created, and we will continue to work with Lisa as long as possible! Cannot recommend highly enough.

We first engaged Lisa over five years ago to help update our very dated 1980s house. Initially she helped us with paint colours and some basic furniture and was absolutely wonderful. She listened to our needs, made suggestions that were sympathetic both to our budget and the style of our house. As a result, when we decided to do a major renovation to our whole house it was to Lisa we turned! Lisa has totally transformed our entire house. We started in the bathrooms, where she advised on colours, tiles, bathroom ware, taps, knobs and the design of the rooms. Lisa not only knew where to get great quality and beautiful things, she put them all together wonderfully. The next room was the kitchen, which she designed from scratch. Lisa sourced the most beautiful floor boards, limestone, wooden tops, cupboards and tap ware. She found a wonderful kitchen table and chairs and buffet that work beautifully in the room. She also gave me very sage advice re the kitchen appliances, I spend the majority of my time in my kitchen and it is still my most favourite room. She then designed the dining and lounge room. My lounge room was particularly difficult as it has a raked ceiling and is a strange shape. We had bought a piece of art overseas and Lisa designed the colour scheme of the room around it. Also my husband wanted a projector and several speakers. Lisa worked with both of us to design a room that works for everyone. It is a beautiful room that has gone from a space we never used to one we use all the time. Lisa then designed an amazingly beautiful guest room over our garage. She transformed this unruly unused room into a place my adult kids now fight over to use. When designing, Lisa always listened to our suggestions and worked in with our tastes. She was also very aware of the style of our house and made suggestions that worked to enhance it rather than try to change it. Lisa has an incredible gift of being able to look at a room and know exactly how to make it beautiful, she knows what colours work and where to get everything required. Lisa has been incredible through this whole process and I would highly recommend her to anyone who would like to transform their home. I am incredibly grateful to her for making my home so so beautiful.

We hired Lisa to transform the whole interior of our house. She has done a fantastic job. We didn't really know what we wanted at the beginning and she has led us step by step though every detail and thanks to her we have an amazing house we absolutely love. We hired Lisa Burdus from Rooms by Design to work on the renovation and decoration of our substantial family home and cabana. Lisa worked closely with us and our builders, and designed and specified everything required for kitchens, bathrooms, skirting boards, cornice, door hardware, lighting, paint and wallpaper as well as the furniture layouts, furniture selections and styling of our home. Not only did she listen to our brief and budget but she was a total joy to work with. She openly shares her ideas and knowledge, and I would have no hesitation in recommending her and her team to other potential clients.

We had bought a house, which needed a lot of work, and to totally transform the style that the house dictated. We met with LIsa, after looking on her website, and thinking that her work appeared unique and different to everything else that was being put out there. We immediately liked her honesty, understanding of requirements and examples of work she showed. She appeared to have a very firm understanding of the residential building industry, and the appropriate people to call on to complete the job. She was also open to talk to and always available. LIsa was able to provide us with a rough budget estimate from the very initial stages. The project has grown substantially, and the budget has been exceeded through no fault of hers. Lisa, has put everything she has into our house. It appears a passion for her and the detail and quality that comes from this is amazing. When you have someone working on your house this is what you want. Every option is explored, every detail spoken for. Her presentations of proposed finishes and concepts are very clear and at no time do you feel as though you have lost control or are not aware of what is going on. We started this journey with a specific look in mind for this house, yet not sure how to achieve it. We have the look that we were after, and yet not at all how we thought initially it would turn out, before we employed Rooms by Design. We couldn't be happier with the end result and with the process that Rooms by Design has led.

Rooms by design Lisa Burdus. I am in the process of having my home decorated by Lisa. In the past few months she has transformed our house from a drab ordinary house into a beautiful designer home. Her fabric choices alone are enough to employ her. Also she has an extensive knowledge of furniture placement and styling, a wide source of suppliers ,curtain makers upholsters and tradies at her beckon call. But I think the best thing is the process.It is not only enjoyable but it is also a learning process. She passes on her knowledge and Ideas.

In 2015 we commissioned Rooms by Design to assist in all interior and exterior plans and selections required to complete a major rebuild and renovation project for a historic 1870 cottage The attention to detail and vision provided by Lisa Burdus was exemplary, in a very challenging project. The end result is simply stunning and my wife and I could not be happier.
