Khadijah was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was thoughtful throughout the process. During the planning phase, she definitely wanted to understand my vision, and how we could work together to bring it to reality. Given the uniqueness of my space, we were able to play around with lighting including colored LEDs in the living room. As we started to make decisions, she always provided me with 3 options for everything, and she was always spot on in her selections. She helped secure contractors to bring the vision into reality, and her legal background helped develop clear and transparent statements of work with the contractors. At the end, she also brought in all the wonderful accents to bring everything to life. I couldn't be more pleased about her work.

First, I would strongly suggest working with a designer, period. Using a designer provides you with an objectivity, assistance with vendors, lower cost substitutes, discounts and a finished look that a trained designer can provide. Why Khadijah? In addition to all of the above, she is a skilled communicator (listener/interpreter). As such, she can quickly translate the client’s subjective values, aesthetic into concrete designs. Secondly, she is easy to work with. Her good people skills are particularly important in dealing with couples who bring their own communication style and differences into the conversation. Thus, KA is particularly skilled at getting to the root of differences and developing actionable solutions. Finally, she respects the client’s basic aesthetic values while gently exploring the space at the outer edge of their comfort zone. The effect is that you walk into the room and it feels right but not something you could have done yourself.
