We were sent to Factory Lighting as part of the building process. Kathy had our plans through our builder and walked us through the house on paper and helped us select. She was very nice when we were buying. Once they had our money, customer service changed. Their were a few things that should have been communicated to the builder and we were blamed, even though we were told the communication is why we should work with her. We chose a hanging wagon wheel originally for our bedroom and then a pendant with Kathy’s guidance. Neither of these lights are meant for a nine foot ceiling. They ended up hanging the pendant light flush to the nine foot ceiling which totally changed the look and doesn’t look right in the room. We trusted Kathy to make sure the right lights were chosen for the rooms based on her supposed knowledge. Both of the lights we looked at and the one we ordered are obviously not meant for 9 foot ceilings and she ordered anyways. They tried to say it was he said, she said. I showed the owner that the original light she was going to order was a hanging wagon wheel and he tried to tell me that she would never do that because she knows how to read blueprints. She obviously did not read ours. I have asked for a refund and the owner and Kathy have become very rude. I have tried to be kind and discuss the matter with them, but they don’t care. They have my money. They claim they don’t give refunds to custom orders, but they are the ones who advised me to order a light not meant for a nine foot ceiling. Their fix was to change the total look of the light. We paid over $1000 for this light and the owner actually tried to tell me he would give me $100 for it. He also told me to sell it on Craigslist. Do not trust these people. Do not trust their word because they will deny it. You would be better off going to Lowe’s and walking down the isles with your blueprint and making it work yourself.

I have used Factory Lighting for two second home new build projects that were both out of town. It was a pleasure working with Kathy Peters. She is knowledgable and talented as well as patient. Our latest project in Hilton Head is stunning. The lighting and ceiling fan selections add so much to the design and the ambience of our new home. Thank you Kathy!

They had a great selection of products at the store for review and numerous other items in catalogs with very competive pricing. We worked exclusively with Kathy at Factory Lighting when construction on our home began in 2009. After a few meetings, she understood our wants and needs and was able to fill the void of finding modern/contemporary pieces in Dayton, Ohio. Needless-to-say I spent hours at the store going through the mass amount of catalogs available and always felt welcome. 90% of our lighting came from Factory Lighting. I highly recommend working with Kathy P. Kathy was always very patient, pleasant, professional & helpful throughout the whole process. I started a few months before my selections were to be made and met with her several times. She never made me feel rushed or pushed me to pick something that wasn't my style. She took the time to figure out my style and make suggestions to what she thought I may like if I had trouble finding a light for a room. I had my heart set on a light (like IT MUST BE IN MY HOUSE SOMEWHERE set) and after bouncing several ideas around we finally found it a home in my stairway!! She made sure everything I chose flowed well and worked within our budget. If I found a light that I loved but wasn't within budget she worked to find a similar light within the budget. I had a great time working with Kathy and will make future purchases from her/Factory Lighting and have recommended her services to several friends.

I have made enquiries about two other well known local lighting companies and always chose Factory Lighting. I first used them in 2002 and have been using them ever since. I've worked with Kathy Peters on many occasions. I recently built a 9000 sq.ft. home and needless to say it needed a lot of lights. Kathy spent tremendous amount of time going through the blue print and gave valuable, accurate advice on the number, size, width, height and wattage of lights needed for each room. Any advice I've ever received has been spot on. To me, after-sales customer service is very important. Whenever there's been any issues, sometimes long after the sale, they have handled things quickly and efficiently in a friendly manner with no hassle. Their prices are also very competitive. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of purchasing lights, fans or mirrors.
