Never use this builder. He left us high and dry when the failed to pull a permit for our front entry way. The cCity of Newport Beach required us to rip out the stone on the front walk way that was imported from Portugal. It took us 3 months to get the replacement stone and $5K. Kent will give you a low bid and then stiff you at the end of the job. Be aware that he will bill you ahead for the progress . The bank that we used refused to pay Kent Johnson t his contractor monthly because he was billing his fees ahead of the progress on the build. He totally disappeared from site. Our project was quoted to be `10 months and it ended up taking 17 months. He tried to blame us for the delays of special items with long lead times. Our kitchen was one of the items and when it came in we had to wait 2months because Kent was not prepared for the install.. We had to pay the kitchen company storage fees of $1K. He seems like a nice guy but was horrible at doing the work to get the contractors paid. Never give him money topay the contractor, pay them directly. MY completion date was May 2017.

I have worked with Kent Johnson of Renaissance Custom Builders both professionally and personally. He is extremely competant, very experienced, and a pleasure to work with. As an interior architectureal designer, I had worked with Kent on a number of custom home projects and when it came time to build my own home, he was my number one choice for contractor. He is always budget-conscious; creative and willing to accommodate client needs.
