I have photographed a number of projects for Jim Laney. Jim's work is absolutely beautiful. His attention to detail is extraordinary. I have been able to see that he is attentive to his client's needs and he has that special touch which enables him to work through difficult - as well as easy - design decisions, "holding his clients hands" along the way. Jim and Peggy are very talented interior designer, who bring their innovative artistic skills to each job. Their work is high quality that is unique to every situation. Their designs are one of a kind and suited to the clients needs. The fabrics chosen are beautiful and the detail of fabrication is always spectacular.

I have worked with Jim and Peggy for 27 plus years. They are THE premier designers not only here in the Chattanooga area and the southeast but with completed projects as far away as the west coast. They are precise, gifted, thorough and incredibly talented. They leave nothing to chance or left out. They are a joy to work with. They listen to their clients and give them what they want. Their work is always elegant and beautiful. I cannot express in enough words to describe them, and what they can and do accomplish.

The Design Company, Inc. was selected as a team member for a $1.7m (Total Project Cost) expansion of our principle residence in Nashville TN. CL&L consulted with the design architect during the schematic phase of the base building design and through construction; and was solely responsible for the interior design, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) selection and installation; and construction administration during the design phase. Having designed and executed the original interiors for the home purchased 8 years earlier, CL&L served us further by coordinating the efforts of both the project the landscape architects. We recommend CL&L to anyone.

The Laneys of the Design Company are top-notch. I used them for two projects, and would hire them again, in a heart-beat. The first project was to make a so-so condominium livable, comfortable, and beautiful. Jim took out a downstairs bedroom, and turned it into a kitchen/dining-room. He added beautiful cabinetry in the living-room (to fit around an antique secretary); the custom kitchen included glass-front cabinets for display,. Wonderful colors, design, and fabric to blend in with my old pieces--including reworking crewel embroidered curtains from our former residence. The next project was the renovation of the house we now live in--we used the same paint colors, kitchen slate that we chose for the condominium, because we love it so much. Many beautiful book shelves were added, a door sealed from the living-room to the porch to make one big room. Top of the line kitchen that is a joy. For both of these projects Jim supervised every detail with the workmen. He gave us estimates on everything. He and Peggy are so much fun to work with. Everyone who visits loves our house--and no one loves it more than we do!

Choosing to work with Curtis Laney & Laney was important because I knew that the work would require a long term and ongoing commitment. The Design Company, Jim and Peggy, immediately had a sense of the direction that my project needed. They were able to put beautiful pieces in place that allowed for future growth in the design. Since I also wanted to work with family pieces, they seamlessly meshed them into the overall plan. I had confidence that their work would be at the highest level of creativity, and I was not disappointed.

Jim Laney has exquisite taste, but he can also design to fit your personality, needs and budget. His design on my small condo space won awards, and much of his work wins awards and is published. He can work on a budget as small as mine, but also works with amazing, "sky's the limit" homes and offices. He is also a delight to work with.
