Constenius Architects, Ltd. is often recognized for our notable custom homes, we have completed designs of nearly every type and size. A large portion of our work has involved commercial projects. We approached John with a few different floor plans we liked and a pretty good feel for our budget and a builder we had in mind. John had worked with this builder (he actually recommended him to us) and we could tell there was a good connection there. John met with us to review what we wanted in our home and then provided some drawings and thoughts on how he envisioned it looking. He took our questions and suggestions and let us know what could or could not be changed. He reviewed his plans with our builder for input before completing a final design. John assisted in getting our plans approved by our HOA and the city of Whitefish. He followed up with our builder and they were able to provide a build plan that stayed within our budget!

When I bought lake front property on the East Shore of Flathead Lk. in 1994 I went looking for the best architect and builder in the area. After interviewing multiple architects I picked John Constenius. He interviewed me and engaged in detailed discovery to understand my values, current design thinking, budget, and long term goals for the lakefront property. He used this information and applied it to his process and utilized his artistic license to recommend a building design and concept that literally 'blew me away." It was unique and fit the geography of the property and my goals. Our family has loved this house and built memories that are unique and that will live forever. Thank you John for your vision and expertise.

John Constenius designed and built our home in the Lakes development of Whitefish. We were very impressed with the thoughtful design, based on an awareness brought only from John having lived in the Whitefish area for many years. This resulted in a beautifully crafted home with a local flair. John’s knowledge of seasonal sun exposure was a key factor in building a home that provided ample ambient light throughout all seasons. At the time of construction, we were living out of state and John’s excellent communication was critical to ensure that all parties were on the same page with all design details and schedule milestones. We highly recommend John Constenius as a premier architect and builder.

John was very good at communicating with us long distance, as we were from out of state. Every time we came up he was very flexible in arranging his schedule to meet with us in office or at the build site. His knowledge and experience provided us a practical floor plan with energy efficient construction. His aesthetic sense gave us a beautiful home that is set on our property as though it was always meant to be there.

I have worked with John for more than 20 years and his attention to detail and devotion to his projects has exceeded all of my expectations. His ability to "set the house on the site" still amazes me. We have tackled many projects that involve lakes, rivers, mountains and limited space. He is a master at getting the site correct.
