I hired JC General Contracting to frame my basement, Windson was very nice and attentive during the process but the end result was not so good, unfortunately we are just becoming aware of some of their mistakes, for example I provided Windson with the link to the Shower Door I purchased so he would frame accordingly , the time has come to install the door and it doesn't fit the opening, the door needs 34" wall for return and we only have 31" so now I have a door that I can't use and I am probably going to have to have a custom door made. We also we ran into issues with the doorways he framed, they were not framed for standard size doors so the plasterer and carpenter had to fix JC General Contractors mistakes, In addition we had a half wall framed for a wet bar and Windson never added bracing and we now have a crooked wall which he firmly blamed on the plaster guy, and while this is something the plaster guy should have addressed Windson is also culpable for the inferior workmanship, Windson is a nice guy but that doesn't help me with my shower door issue

I was very sorry to see our client go through a difficult time with her project - especially seeing how long it was taking her, but unfortunately, this was a case of "piece-meal-work" that I strongly advise against because of the various moving parts in a single project. Nonetheless, this was a project that we took on and were very proud of completing regardless of how small the project was. Our client here only hired us for frame work, and it was a very straightforward job. She was pleasing to work with as well, and just like any of our other previous clients I really enjoyed the process of her project.

It wasn't a total surprise to see our past client had some of these issues given how the project was carried out, but we always try to serve in any way we can so we worked with her through-out all of these issues.

1. DOOR FRAMES
- We did in-fact frame the doors for our clients as specified. When they got to the finishes stage they hired Home Depot to come out to measure the doors and install them as well. Home Depot wanted to sell her just about every door as a special ordered door. When she let me know I asked my father, our Site Manager, to pay her a visit and measure the doors for her. We were able to get her all standard doors so she wouldn't have to purchase them from Home Depot. (The frame was fine)

2. KNEE WALL
- We framed a knee wall for her peninsula/wet bar area. When the finish carpenter installed the cabinets he never fastened the wall to the cabinets. So the base of the cabinets touched the wall, but the top of the cabinets (at counter height) didn't. During countertop templating or installation the issue wasn't addressed either. So when the countertops were installed the wall remained out of plumb with no easy way of fixing it. Given that this is a freestanding wall there wasn't much "bracing" we could do because all of our frame bracing would be removed. There was some bracing that could've been done during drywall - but even without that if the finish carpenter had attached the cabinet to the wall instead of just placing it against the wall then the issue would've been resolved. Even if the carpenter missed it - if the countertop installer had noticed this during templating and pointed it out it would've been possible to correct the issue before actually installing the countertop. This is what I was trying to explain years ago about information and details being missed during piece-meal-work.

3. SHOWER DOOR
After some investigation we figured out why the door didn't actually fit. The situation could've been avoided - however, this was something that I could still fix for her. We ended up purchasing a brand new door and installing it for her in order to solve the issue.

In construction if you simply "trust the next guy" then you're a poor manager. No matter how small the project; issues can always come up. If there's no one supervising start to finish then the likely hood of said issues will be even greater. We didn't have the opportunity to do the full project here, but I always suggest working with a manager or reaching out with any questions when you decide to manage your own project as a client.

We had a dormer bedroom and office added to our home in Arlington. After many calls and quote visits, JC General Contracting was by far the lowest price in the area and their work was phenomenal. Windson, the project manager was excellent and responded very well with all my questions and queries. They helped us to get exactly what we wanted and everything came within our budget. They let us know the cost of any extras we decided on along the way (we decided to add on spray foam insulation and hvac) so there were no major cost surprises. The team were all very friendly and the rooms look amazing. Would definitely recommend them. Thanks JCG!

JC General Contracting was a pleasure to work with throughout our entire home addition project. I honestly can't say enough good things about Windson, Jose, Nilson, William, and some other staff I am sure I unintentionally missed. In the day-to-day we worked most closely with Windson, who maintained patience, levelheadedness, and a sense of humor throughout the process. For us it was a big undertaking to consider adding onto our home, which we have occupied for 13 years. Their price was the most competitive and they delivered a quality product. Our project consisted of a shed dormer, new siding and roofing for the addition part, three new windows, extending two bedrooms ( roughly 400sf total), mini-split heating and cooling system, new flooring where the addition was, and some small side projects like sanding floors since they were there anyway! They helped coordinate all subcontractors for the job, and their crews were respectful, hardworking, and all around nice people who knew their craft. Some things to consider: 1. The town where you do your addition might have a lengthy permit process due to by-laws and COVID. For perspective, we signed a contract in May and work didn't commence until November 2020 and was fully finished in January. Windson was very helpful in attending Zoom calls with us to move the process forward. Windson was also on top of all the permitting with the city and made sure that they moved our applications along in a timely manner. In addition, some materials took a bit longer to order due to COVID-19 and we had to make a second choice on our siding. This was just our experience, and the situation is improving all the time with the pandemic. Windson juggled all the pieces to minimize delays. Budget more than you expect on the project -we got excited and upgraded the siding we chose and added a mini-split. We were glad we did and the team helped us to make some nice choices, but change orders add up! We highly recommend JC General Contracting Inc.

We hired Windson and his team to finish our basement, which included adding a 3/4 bathroom. From the get-go, my wife and I could tell Windson was not like the other contractors we had gotten quotes from. Windson was knowledgeable, respectful and his communication skills were unmatched. He helped guide us through the design process, making suggestions on how to better design the flow of our basement. He responded to our questions promptly and shared updates of the progress of the build regularly. The build process went smoothly and we were extremely delighted with the final product that was delivered. I would use Windson again for future projects and recommend him to friends.

JCG Contracting was such a pleasure to work with, they built our first home! Windson was respectful, knowledgeable, and professional. He set our expectations just right by being honest. Throughout the build he found creative solutions to keep the project going and to resolve the issues we encountered. Windson supervised making a new full bathroom for our house. The project had a lot of different components and Windson was extremely knowledgeable on all of them and found creative solutions as needed. For example, the window we wanted was backordered and would not arrive in time because of extreme COVID delays. Windson found a very good solution: a window of a slightly different size which fit in after some reframing. We also needed the window frosted and Windson arranged to modify the window he found to make it so. Later we needed some repairs for the deck and Windson's extensive expertise as a GC was again crucial to make the right decisions and do the structural repair without spending too much money. We are very satisfied with the quality of the work.

We hired Windson and his crew for a gut rehab of our over 100 year old two-family home. This was a major renovation and undertaking for us, and Windson was with us every step of the way. What struck us most was his honesty and transparency of the challenges and costs of our project. He guided us through the design aspects as well as the nuts and bolts of construction regarding an old house. Windson is great to work with and flexible with curveballs on the project. A bit more speed would make him perfect, but he isn’t any slower than other contractors I have worked with.
