Hayes Brothers built a free standing ADU for me in 2019. I would highly recommend using Hayes Brothers, in fact, I have already recommended them to a good friend who is having his kitchen remodeled. During the building of the ADU, I communicated a lot with Smith Hayes, and his business partner, Memo. They were extremely knowlegdeable about all aspects of the construction process, and great at explaining to me what was going on, step by step. They were always calm and professional, a trait which their subcontractors shared. The work and craftmanship of Hayes Brothers is excellent. The carpenter actually realigned the under stair cabinet doors, unasked, because he saw a flaw that a lay person would not have noticed. Smith Hayes had suggestions which both saved me money and contributed to the overall stability of the property in the future. And even after the house was built, and the project was done, Smith is happy to answer any questions about the ADU. If I ever have need of constructions services, Smith Brothers is the first company that I'll call. If my friends and family needs construction services, I would recommend Smith Brothers immediately. With their commitment to excellent craftmanship, fair prices, on time delivery, and great customer service, both throughout construction and after, Smith Brothers is in it for the long haul.

Hayes Brothers did a fantastic job! The kitchen remodel was scheduled for approximately 30 days and it was completed on-time and under budget. While the process was inconvient, it really could not have gone better. I really can’t say enough good things about Smith and the tradesman that he works with. One of the things I really appreciated about Smith is that he always allows me to have my ideas, but he will offer an expert opinion as well that I felt like made the project that much better. He was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns that I had and was always available. A friend of mine started a kitchen remodel over 6 months ago, and when I began my kitchen I think she looked at me in pity. However, from the beginning she could tell that my project was much better organized, utilized more capable tradesman, and I ended up finishing my kitchen before hers. She used a very expensive firm here in Portland and has a lot of regrets relative to the level of service that she received. I have utilized other contractors that have not always been the best, so I can appreciate the professional, organized and capable way in which Smith conducts himself. I will never use another contractor and will definitely recommend him to all my friends and co-workers, which is not done lightly.

Smith and his team have performed 4 major remodels of our house over the past 10 years! Each project has been better than the last. He has done a kitchen (down to studs), completely finished a previously unfinished basement, a full remodel of our upper floor and then a full tear down (to studs again) of our main bathroom. I’ve been lucky enough to get to recommend Smith to multiple friends who’ve used his company. I’m still friends with all of those people! I can’t recommend Hayes Brothers strongly enough. You will not be dissatisfied. I’ve know smith for 10 years and have always been satisfied with his work and with him as a person.

Smith and his team were a pleasure to work with. They listened thoughtfully to our ideas, and helped us implement a plan that worked best for our home and within our budget. Hayes brother’s completed a basement remodel from a completely unfinished space and turned it into the most enjoyed space in our home. It included refinished stairs, laundry closet, family room, bedroom, full bath, and two egress windows. Our home is 110 years old and they helped us creat a fresh space that honors the age of the house. During the project Smith and Memo were always available with prompt and thoughtful responses. We have further remodel plans for our home and look forward to working with them again, and would highly recommend to anyone.

We hired Hayes Brothers for a complete kitchen remodel -- down to the studs, removed a wall, new plumbing and HVAC. They provided a careful and detailed proposal, they were responsive and professional throughout the project, and they completed the project on time. We hired Hayes Brothers to build a 575 square foot ADU on our property in West Linn, and we are extremely happy with how the project turned out. Smith has a very professional high quality team working for him. They invested the time and attention to detail that you would in your own home. Smith was on-site often and always addressed any concerns or questions immediately. I would use them again for future projects and recommend them to anyone!

We hired Smith and his team for a full kitchen remodel after interviewing several other prospects and couldn't be happier with the final job. Even though the city was covered in snow and ice on the day the job was to begin, they showed up on time and got to work. They ended up working through three separate snow/ice storms to complete the job on time (they finished to the day they said they would!) and on budget. Smith was always quick to reply to emails when we had questions, and all the subs they contracted with were courteous and professional. We had Smith's team custom build our cabinetry and the foresight of the team improved upon our initial design and plan. Highly recommended.

Smith and his crew were great to work with. They delivered on time and on budget. He analysis of the scope of work was complete and included engineering in the basement, first, second and third floors to ensure that we would not have any long term structural issues with our 1908 home. His team was professional, courteous and respectful to us and our home during the construction. The finish work was excellent and he paid attention to every little detail. I have used him since the original project and will continue to use Hayes Brothers Construction for future needs.

We hired Hayes Brothers to fix water damage on a front balcony and also to rebuild our front deck. They found additional water damage with both projects and promptly went out of their way to find solutions to prevent further damage. We loved the quality of their work, their commitment to the job, even though it was smaller than their normal projects and the fair quote they provided. We look forward to using them again in the future.

Hayes Brothers helped us with a major renovation and addition (our remodel included moving the kitchen, taking most of the existing home down to the studs and adding a master suite). Smith was very organized and I appreciated how he managed my expectations on timing, costs and the 'unknowns'. He was incredibly responsive, professional and thorough. His team is highly skilled, detailed, respectful and really a great crew of guys (I think my husband misses their company). And while a massive remodel is super disruptive (particularly for a family of 5) I cannot imagine a better group to partner with for the work.
