I don't remember when I wasn't a gardener. First, trailing behind my grandmother, and later, my mother, I was learning and absorbing before I understood the meaning of terms like ornamental or dormant. I never stopped playing in the dirt. As an art student, I concentrated on three-dimensional design. It wasn't until I had spent seven years in the accounting world (now immensely useful for finishing jobs on time and within budget!), that I merged my love of gardening and art to forge a landscaping career. For the past 20 years, I have designed a variety of residential and commercial projects; worked as an estimator for larger firms, meeting with owners, architects and superintendents; and coordinated with all trades for successful project completion.
