Gaskill Architecture LLC is a boutique residential design firm focusing on new custom homes and renovation addition projects. Our true passion and business focus is residential design. Our services include architecture, interior design, landscape design, sustainable design, historic preservation, master planning, urban planning, and construction administration, which allows us to offer a holistic design approach to every client. Robert Gaskill, RA, NCARB, LEED AP is the founder of Gaskill Architecture LLC. Robert's passion and dedication for design has been demonstrated with a diverse range of national and international award winning projects. Robert earned his B.S and Master’s in Architecture degrees from Kent State University. We believe that understanding our clients' vision and goals is the fundamental principle for a successful project. Our design process is very engaging with the integration of our collaborative software tools, which also provides a clear visual understanding of each project. The interactive software not only provides photo realistic images for our clients’ projects, but reduces inaccuracies in the construction documents. Design is a reaction to the programmatic needs of the client and the natural surroundings of the project site. Whether the design is responding to an urban or rural location, the architecture should embrace the surroundings and blur the lines of land and building. Gaskill Architecture did an excellent job turning our wishes and ideas into a beautiful, wonderfully-functional home. Robert spent a good amount of time understanding us and our goals to achieve this. And he was incredibly patient through our iterations. His supporting team helped us with various design decisions, and provided engineering support to our contractor when needed. One of our goals was sustainability; Gaskill Architecture excels in this. He guided us through a number of key decisions to achieve all we had hoped to accomplish.

Robert Gaskill designed our carriage house. It was a smaller structure than his typical projects, but he was kind enough to take us on as clients. We wanted the carriage house to be period appropriate (we live in a 1890s Queen Anne Victorian). Other than general style and rough size/dimensions, we really didn't give him much direction - we wanted him to do all the "heavy lifting". He knocked it out of the park. We were beyond thrilled when we received the final design and are very excited to see the carriage house come to life. Before working with Robert, we were concerned that whoever we got to design our carriage house was going to design a cookie-cutter styled structure...that was the complete opposite of what we experienced. Even though we "boxed" Robert in to the Queen Anne style, he still designed it in a way that makes the carriage house feel like it has our mark on it yet still maintains its Victorian integrity. Aside from being a top-shelf architect, Robert is an excellent communicator. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and in a timely fashion. Plain and simple, Robert is on point, and you'll be beyond delighted when working with him.

Gaskill Architecture designed an elaborate 2 tiered stamped concrete patio including a pool, two story covered balcony, outdoor kitchen, and fireplaces on both levels. The project turned out almost exactly the way the rendering showed. The plans were clear and concise. The contractor was able to give a fair estimate and stick to it. We couldn't be more pleased and recommend Gaskill to all of our friends considering a sizeable project.

We hired Robert Gaskill to do an extensive remodel plus addition on our midcentury house. Robert is very patient, professional, thorough, and experienced. He has the creative perspective and open mindedness needed to optimize the limited space we have while giving us most of the features on our wish list. Robert also referred us to several reputable general contractors he recommended and helped us create a bidding form for them to follow. We chose one of Robert’s contractors to do our project. The only drawback was that the whole process took more than a year, longer than we expected, but to be fair we made many modifications to our drawings and Robert was very patient with us. Also the cost of our project was much higher than we expected but maybe we were naive about that. Overall, we highly recommend Robert Gaskill.

The best decision we made when we planned a significant renovation to our home was to hire Robert Gaskill and Gaskill Architecture. I spent a lot of time looking at the work of different architects before I made my decision. I loved everything that Robert did. Once I met Robert, I knew it was a perfect fit. Robert and his associates are very creative and talented but I feel like Robert really took the time to get to know me and what I was hoping to accomplish. Gaskill Architecture uses the latest technologies to give you a feel for what the end result will look like. Robert and his associates are very friendly and easy to work with. Robert and his team are outstanding. Robert's communication skills are top notch. He responded to all of my communication in a very timely manner. Text, email, and phone. He's a good listener and ensured that he understood our wants and needs for our project. He included several design options, taking into consideration our budget and requests. From initial meeting to preliminary plans to final construction drawings, it was a pleasure working with Robert. He accepted feedback and answered questions in a professional manner. Robert's attention to detail and knowledge were reassuring as we undertook this large project. Robert also provided recommendations for contractors. Our project included a complete remodel and large addition to a smallish 1929 Bungalow. The builder we chose was recommended by Robert and we couldn't be happier with their work! We would highly recommend Gaskill Architecture.

Robert designed the remodel of our 1920s farmhouse, which included an addition as well as a reconfiguration of the existing house. At every point, he was very timely and professional, and also very patient with us as we discussed options and threw out new ideas. His calm, easy-going demeanor helped ease the fears of embarking on a large renovation project. He even ushered us into the next phase of our project by recommending several great contractors. Robert was actually the 4th architect that we spoke to regarding our project, but the only one that we actually hired. The difference was that he walked into our house with a completely open mind and listened to what we were trying to accomplish. And then he ultimately gave us a plan to accomplish it. It's a pleasure to see his business evolve, and I'd certainly recommend him to anyone. I thought I'd get the chance one day when I was describing my project to a co-worker who was also planning some changes. We discovered coincidentally that Gaskill Architecture had planned both of our projects. Me: Your architect is Robert Gaskill? Me too! How do you like him? Co-worker: He's brilliant!

Robert did a great job in a timely manner. Easy to get a hold of and arrange meetings. We are doing a 2000 sq ft. addition. He and his assistant measured our entire house room by room with a laser for accuracy. We had a design and layout in mind. He was able to make a few suggestions and transfer what we wanted into drawings that we currently submitted to our municipality. Our design process was about 2 months and I would definitely recommend him to others.

We hired Gaskill to design an addition for our 100 year old house. He met with us at our home and made recommendations, provided detailed drawings in a timely manner, provided us names of possible contractors and followed up with us to see how the project was proceeding. Thanks to Gaskill we were able to find a contractor to complete the addition we had been dreaming of. Our addition turned out beautifully and blends with our home nicely. We now have an enlarged kitchen and comfortable sitting room which we love.

We had the pleasure of working with Robert Gaskill on our home's redesign and expansion. An old colonial-style house, we wanted to retain the integrity of the outside of the home, while expanding the space we had within and creating a more open and modern style. Robert was able to take our preliminary ideas and incorporate them into a functional plan. He also was willing to listen to our input and revisit the design, readjusting things until we were completely satisfied. We also appreciated how he was able to use some of our "pie-in-the-sky" ideas as sources of inspiration, but scale them back to keep us within budget. We highly would recommend Robert Gaskill as an architect.

After 15 years we decided it was time to update our home. As our architect of choice, Robert was essential In helping us focus our vision and work through alternatives. Our project consisted of adding on a new master bedroom and gym, creating a covered patio and deck area linking the back of the house, along with other interior cosmetic updates. Robert was very patient in working through our questions and numerous variations of the design. He was able to provide us with a working session that quickly showed us what changes would look like, essential for two people who were not good at visualizing things. After completing our design, Robert has stayed engaged and interested in the final project outcomes. We would highly recommend him as the best architect to work with for any project.

I worked with Robert to design a farm house that we plan to break ground on in the very near future. Robert was very easy to work with, he understood my vision for the home, was always prompt in answering my questions and returning my calls and emails. He uses a state of the art computer program to assist in the design process. It seemed amazingly simple to translate my ideas into a workable plan. I also appreciate Robert's knowledge of builders, the building process, and building products. I feel confident that he will be available to answer any of our questions once our project gets under way. I have also noticed that the builders we have approached for bids all have high regard for Robert. My experience with Gaskill Architecture was completely positive. My husband and I found ourselves in a bind when an builder could not deliver plans for a home within the scope of our project. We needed to find someone who could work with us quickly and with enthusiasm for our project. We wanted someone who had a vision similar to ours and was highly motivated to work within a tight time-frame. Gaskill Architecture delivered on every point. Robert moved quickly with excellent communication to create plans for our new home that exceed our hopes. The plans we are moving forward with are within our budget, feature sustainable materials, and are a strong indicator of Robert's ability to place a home into a landscape to optimize the interior-exterior experience. He was able to connect us with a new builder who is also providing a wonderful experience. I honestly am not sure where we would be without his expertise and drive. We are very, very pleased with Gaskill Architecture and give Robert and his team our highest recommendation.

Robert Gaskill provided us with our dream architecture for our brick, single family home. It is 3400 sq. ft. with three bedrooms, laundry room, and office upstairs; and an open concept family/kitchen living area plus formal dining room on the first level. He also included a playroom off the family room for our son, a mudroom, and a butler pantry. Robert made the best use of space for our city lot, and even fit in the two car garage. Robert is still working with us through the bid process and will be with us to the end. I would recommend Gaskill Architecture to anyone starting the home building process. Get in early!

My wife and I were looking for an architect to design an addition to our home that would include a 1 bedroom in-law suite as well as an extended kitchen and sitting room. We selected Robert Gaskill after meeting with several prospective Architects, including an architect we had recently hired to design a 3 car garage with an apartment. Robert's professionalism was evident from our initial meeting. Robert was quick to get a complete understanding of the scope of our project as well as our budget. Robert has the perfect combination of creativity and good business practices. He is very easy to work with and committed to meeting the agreed-on timeline. He designed a compact lake home with everything we wanted within the constraints of a small, sloping lot. Robert is an excellent listener, very patient in hearing our ideas and wish list – then translating those into a cohesive and creative design. He was very engaged in the project, including traveling a distance for site visits during the design phase. The technology he utilizes gave us wonderful 3D representations to allow us to visualize the final home. I hired Robert to design a massive home addition/remodel. We had previously met with several contractors who were unable to assist us with the creative visual design and idea scoping that we had hoped for. It was also very overwhelming and an area where neither my husband nor I had any expertise. We were very frustrated by attempting to know what we could do, what would also be functional and also look nice. Everyone else that we spoke to wasn't helpful. Enter Gaskill Architecture. Robert came in, took our overarching goal/budget and with limited creative direction from us (literally we just told him to "be creative") he designed an amazing remodel for our home. We are now able to stay in the home that we love because we are making it exactly what we want, instead of finding another home and starting from scratch. In addition, he was incredibly patient, professional and very timely with his work. He met committed deadlines and went above and beyond by connecting us with contracting firms and getting an estimate for the build. We highly recommend Gaskill Architecture and would work with them again in a heartbeat.

We needed a lot of help correcting a structural defect in our kitchen and dining room. We were very pleased with the recommendations given, the professional drawings provided and the on-going care and concern given to our project. We are completely satisfied with the completion of our project. We feel our home is now sound. I cannot describe adequately how much peace of mind was proved.

Gaskill Architecture provided drawings for our home renovation. Our plans included: enlarging our kitchen and dining room, adding a four season room and a deck. Robert came with our contractor, listened to our ideas, looked at the structure of our house, took measurements, and gave us some helpful suggestions. We were provided with accurate detailed drawings in the time period we were told. We are very pleased with the service Gaskill Architecture provided and would not hesitate to recommend or use their service again.
