Located in Brooklyn's Gowanus neighborhood, Eric Safyan / Architect PC is a growing general architectural practice that offers a full scope of architectural services. A range of residential and commercial projects are undertaken ranging from home additions and renovations, new construction multi-family development, passive house construction, to restaurant and boutique design and office interiors. Each project is developed through a rigorous research and design process with attention to detail, sustainable principles, and strong client feedback. From the use of cutting edge materials and fabrication techniques to the rehabilitation and restoration of original brownstone details, to zoning and development proposals, ES/A believes strongly in collaboration with other fields and trades to achieve a solution that exceeds client expectations. Current work includes a 5 story enlargement to an Upper West Side landmarked townhouse, a new construction 4 family rowhouse, a restaurant and bar in Bushwick, office design for a Gowanus-based co-work office, and multiple renovations and additions to homes in Brooklyn and Manhattan, NY, specifically in the brownstone community.

I am in the process of a total renovation of a studio apartment.Eric is amazing and I would not have been able to undertake this project without him. He is unbelievably patient. Listens to your ideas and then improves on them. He does not hesitate to make suggestions, which always prove to be great. He is extremely detail oriented. He helped with contractor selection and was expert in handling building and DOB requirements. Eric makes you feel like your project is totally safe in his hands.

My husband and I contracted Eric Safyan to help us gut and renovate a 1907 townhome. The home had been stripped of its details and changed into a two-family residence over the years. We wanted to bring back the antique look of the space; update its plumbing, electrical, heat and AC; and make it a one-family. He helped us create a new layout that would take advantage of skylights already installed in the roof and existing plumbing hookups, which took a great deal of problem-solving and patience. He hired our contractor, S&B Construction, which was an amazing recommendation. He also took care of our necessary paperwork and filing requirements. He was incredible to work with, always brought a lot of ideas to the table to help us stay within our target budget, offered knowledgeable advice, showed up to meetings on time, responded in a timely manner to correspondence and helped us create a home that we love and consistently amazes guests who drop by.

We used Eric Safyan for a major renovation to our wood frame house. We enclosed the front porch to create a mudroom and extended the second floor bedrooms over the enclosed porch Additionally, the roof of these bedrooms was raised creating 12 foot high ceilings. It was a huge project and throughout it all Eric was very professional, diligent and thorough. He has a great design aesthetic and gave great advice and suggestions. I have recommended him to others as well.

A few years ago, I approached Eric Safyan on behalf of my New York City renovation clients, for routine DOB filings. We met in his manufacturing loft/office of sound-dampening, denim work-stations and woody conference rooms. I was completely at ease. True to his word, Eric got jobs approved for my clients, advised me to greet inspectors with “No Smoking” signs, and he went way beyond. More than capable in his own pairings of materials to purposes, he trusts me with colors and textures, fixtures and finishes, and my installations for his clients. Appearing regularly, but not too often, always available, Eric works with me to perform my best work for our clients. Tell Eric what you need. Trust Eric.

Eric Safyan was the architect for our house in Limon Province, Costa Rica. He worked with the builder and the project manager via phone calls. He asked all the right questions and created an awesome Mountain/Jungle/Beach house. He has also advised us on upgrades. The project started in 2009 and was finished in 2010.

Our company is both a developer and a builder. Eric is a wonderful architect to work. We have engaged him on our projects where we act as the builder and also on projects where we are builder/deliver. First and foremost he is very Professional. His drawings are clear and his communication is timely and thoughtful. Second but equally as important he is extremely detail oriented - he will make your contractor redo things that are not done accurately!!! But more important he has a great sensibility for materials and the overall aesthetic of the project. Eric is a great, honest architect with a capable team.

I have worked with Eric on several high end townhome projects in Brooklyn, NY. As a developer, it is very helpful to work with an architect who offers so much integrity, creativity and attention to his design - but understands the importance of designing in a way that can also help save costs where necessary. He understands how to navigate the building code, meets deadlines, and will work with his client to ensure they are happy with the end result.

Eric is truly one of the most valuable professionals that we have had the pleasure of working with. He takes the time to not only bring his expertise and skills of an architect to our projects but also to understand what type of service we actually need. Sometimes there is a disconnect between the desires of an architect and their creative goals with the needs/requirements of a developer on a project by project basis but Eric totally understands the dynamic as both an architect and businessman. With Eric, you not only get an architect with a deep understanding of the NYC building code (which many architects do not possess) but you get someone with a great design sense who is able to present multiple options for any given project to solve complex construction issues. He is the quintessential "go-to" guy who we rely heavily on. There is no doubt that he'll be a important part of our company equation for years to come.

Eric has worked with us on three renovation projects for our home, all three involved landmarks approval as well as department of buildings. All expenses were transparent upfront and Eric provided good insights as to design considerations which helped improve the ideas we had.
