Ms. Elskop and Mr. Scholz have jointly directed their design firm in New York City since 1992. Throughout its career, the firm has placed an emphasis on residential architecture and interiors. Executing individual projects that address specific and unique client needs, they believe the greatest opportunities for fine design reside in the collaboration of client, architect and craftsman and provide the greatest value added to each project. The firm has been recognized with various awards, - the AIA NY Design in Architecture Award, the Boston Society of Architects and a Lucy B. Moses Preservation Award, as well as in various national and international publications. The firm believes each project should represent its solution as a synthesis of program, context, history and forward thinking rather than a particular style. Christopher & Ines consider the production phase to be as important as planning, dedicating commensurate attention to the field work necessary to realize the full design intent of the project. Working closely with builders, manufacturers and craftsmen they leverage the potential of materials and processes to develop innovative solutions to specific project requirements. In order to achieve a unified project and an integrated user experience Ms. Elskop and Mr. Scholz also supply services for custom and contract furnishings, interior decorating, and image consultation.

Working with Ines and Christopher was a true partnership. With their expertise we realized a vision for our non-profit gallery that wouldn't have existed without their insights and inspiration. Two of the innovative features of the renovation have become my favorite features of the space. They created a movable wall that can be opened and closed depending on the exhibition and a highly efficient closet on our main floor that meets all our storage and organizational needs. We receive endless compliments from visitors and have attracted new foot traffic who say they never even noticed our space before this renovation.

Chris and Ines impeccably designed and remodeled two floors of a brownstone to house an important non-profit project I started. They created a space that was the perfect balance of practicality and comfort to accommodate our organizational needs in a residential setting. Everyone who visits our space is immediately taken by its traditional beauty, brought back to life during the renovation, mixed with added contemporary elements that seamlessly work together. 3 years later, the space still looks great, functions well and adapts to our changing needs. The Elskop Scholz team is easy to work with and extremely talented. I highly recommend working with them.

ES were brilliant in renovating my new apartment from small 1980s developer. They saw potential in the plan, revising it to open up and bring light in, while maintaining intimate spaces. I continue to be especially happy with well considered and crafted details like barn doors, hanging bookcases, and built ins that are perfectly suited to my tastes and requirements; and the perfect color on the walls.

As architects and interiors designers who passionately believe that form follows function, Inés and Chris practice fine contemporary design. With visual and intellectual rigor and clarity, they design residences to enhance their clients’ lives. For this husband-and-wife team, needless decoration is needless, but refined detailing is the greatest luxury.
