I highly recommend this company.
East Branch Builders constructed a 3400 sq ft , 3 level lodge-style vacation home for us in 2010-2011.
Our goal was to build a certified 'green' vacation home that was highly energy efficient , had excellent air quality, conserved water, used local and recycled building materials and had many other sustainable features outlined by NAHB's National Green Building program.
That involved scores of extra details that a builder would not have to deal with in a standard project:
using no VOC paints for air quality, special construction methods and extra insulation to maximize energy efficiency, a geothermal ground- source heat pump install that involved subs digging a 400 ft well near the foundation etc. Throughout Jim Martin spent extra time on conference calls with us, the architect and green certifier to suggest and confirm the many details of sustainable design and materials.
They also did wonderful finish work, installing pine floors, bamboo floors, cork floors ,porcelain tile , kitchen cabinets , exposed beams, cedar log posts at the entry, and stonework on the 15 ft high fireplace.
East Branch Builders ended up building us an Emerald level home , the highest green certification offered by NAHB. It was also Energy Star Qualified with a high HERS (Home Energy Resource Score)
We are still extremely happy with the house - and it would not have been possible without the craftsmanship, attention to detail , and creative problem solving of EBB .
Jim Martin and his crew are also responsible for the excellent mountain views that we have from all levels of the house . They calculated the size & placement of the north facing windows to perfectly capture the sight of Franconia Notch from all 3 levels.
They did much of the construction during the extremely cold 2011 New Hampshire winter . They were reliable-, showing up every day that the weather allowed them to work ( >+10 degrees F) .
You simply will not find a builder or general contractor more skilled, reliable and easy to work with than James Martin and East Branch Builders. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
