My wife and I had Mark and his crew replace 2 sliding exterior door sets on our cape home. Mark picked a perfect day for the installation, a bright, sunny, 60-degree day in mid-November! He and his crew arrived early as scheduled and were able to get the job done by late afternoon. They were all very cordial, very knowledgeable, and willing to answer all my questions. Mark anticipated the interior trim parts he would need to complete the installation of the one from the kitchen to the deck, including the oak floor threshold, with no need for trips to the lumberyard. I was very impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail, and just plain-old craftsmanship Benson Builders showed throughout the whole process from quote to completion.

Benson Builders completed an extremely difficult replacement of windows and eves in our converted Stone Barn from the early 1800's. The unique nature of the construction and limited physical openings required a custom design and approach, and custom installation in difficult conditions. Communication about the design work was clear & concise. The work scope required several modifications as the project progressed, and communication between the owner and project manager was excellent. We greatly appreciated the attention to detail with the renovation work, which resulted in repairs that blend in seamlessly to the existing structure. There are contractors and carpenters and then there are craftsmen, Mark Benson and his crew are craftsmen. From the installation of a new front door and custom built front steps to a rebuilt farmers porch with custom made composite flower boxes, everything was built with precision and an eye toward style. Mark also replaced the siding on the front of the house with dipped cedar shingles. The creativity displayed by accenting architectural features with various types of trim is brilliant. My wife and I are looking forward to having Mark work on additional projects for us, we wouldn’t hire anyone else.

Mark worked with us to reimagine a master bathroom which turned out in a previous life to have been a sleeping porch. As a result, Mark and his team had to reinforce the floor and level it. He was diligent in explaining to us the challenges of leaving the existing plumbing in an outside wall and got all of it rerouted to interior walls. He was patient as we made minor modifications along the way and practical if one of our suggestions was going to be costly. We told him we wanted to be back in the house by May 15 and on May 14 we returned. He did let us know that it'd be easier/faster if we were NOT in the house during construction as that would allow him to avoid full clean up at the end of each day (saving time and money). We have asked Mark to submit a proposal on another small project. His first love is carpentry and the finish work reflects his highest standard of excellence. This project was not his first on this house and it won't be his last. That's my strongest recommendation!

My wife and I struggled to find someone to replace 20 windows in our home. We had no-show contractors for estimates, show-ups who would spend an hour looking around and taking measurements only to never send an estimate, and pushy guys who tried hard to sell us other services or options we didn't ask for or need. When we found Benson Builders Inc we both immediately liked Mark for his low-key, professional demeanor, and of course his reputation. We hired him and his crew to install 20 Andersen 400 windows, and his crew of Steve, Frank, Justin, and Matt were great. Their workmanship is outstanding, and on top of that, they were fun to have around. They're all good guys, and we determined quickly that we trusted them in our house with no one home. They showed up every day on time, and did great work, including painting trim inside and out. Mark and his team have completely overhauled the exterior of our house (removed a structurally compromised sunroom and closed up the side of the house, installed new skylights, doors and gutters, trimmed out all the windows and doors, painted, and built a deck). We couldn't be happier with their work. Their attention to detail is fantastic! Mark installed a storm door on our home last winter. At first we were worried that the project might be too small. To our delight, Mark recommended and installed a door that we love. We were referred to Mark by our local plumbing contractor, who spoke highly of Mark and his Company. Our project included replacement of all of the 70-year old windows in our house. We also aske Mark to prepare a proposal to replace the original (also 70 years old) cedar shingle=siding and the old wooden shutters on the house. Mark met us on a mutually convenient Sunday morning last Fall. He arrived on-time and prepared to work with us in accordance with Covid-protocols. His subsequent proposal was clear, concise and well-presented. Upon review of the Proposal, we agreed to do business together. Mark did everything that he said that he would do. He completed the project on-time and in a complete and through professional manner. Neighbors commented to us with regard to the professionalism that Mark and his team displayed, even when we were away and the house was vacant. The work was done with care and the clean-up was very thorough. During the course of the project, we talked about some changes to the original specs, and Mark accommodated us each time, with no indication of discomfort or annoyance. We subsequently agreed to add some smaller related work to the original project, all of which was addressed in a very professional manner. Our adult children are very enthusiastic about the clean and modern new appearance of the old hose. Our neighbors are very positive; not a single negative comment. To say that we are pleased would be an understatement.

i had some outside storm doors Replaced at my house and they kept giving me trouble wind weather in 4 yrs i put 2 storm doors still not right a friend referred mark to me and i saw some of his handy work i knew he could solve this and i contacted him and replaced both storm doors and at last! nice professional neat quality work dependable workmen ship and a great guy i could not be happier his work he takes pride in his work and i have more projects for him look no where else this is the guy

I originally hired Mark to replace 3 storm doors. He provided a high quality door and did an excellent job with the installation. Mark recently completed a number of repairs and improvements on a home I recently purchased in Yarmouth. He replaced a rotted out bulkhead door, replaced broken/non existent basement windows as well as old cracked windows on the garage; he replaced rotted clapboard across the front of the house along with rotted wood around and under the front door. I asked Mark Benson for help with a couple of storm windows and some framing of attic windows and doors. Several weeks later I am sitting in what was my attic storeroom, now my dream bedroom, complete with a view of the beach! When I saw the quality of Mark's work, I had confidence in his ability to provide a flawless hardwood floor, a perfect paint job, and details only a pure craftsman would make part of the project. Mark did an excellent job installing a new outside storm door. He also adjusted and installed hardware on inside door so that it would lock properly. His work was excellent as was his communication and his price was fair. I will definitely use Mark for other projects if he is available.

Mark Benson has completed 3 projects over the last 20 or so years, including a large back deck a full width front porch, and finally an attached garage/mud room off the kitchen. He also replaced the asphalt shingles on the main house. In each project, Mark completed these projects in a timely manner with excellent results. I needed to replace a bulkhead at a vacation property that my sister owns on Cape Cod. Neither if us live on the cape full time, so our choice of a contractor was going to have to be done through on-line customer reviews. Mark at Benson Builders responded very quickly to my request for an estimate with a written quote that listed what the detailed steps would be to completing the job as well as the cost. The other contractor that responded did not give me any written estimates, and one contractor did not get back to me until 11 days after he committed to. All of the calls, emails, and/or texts I had with Mark about the job were very professional and respectful. When Mark was able to schedule the job, I had a friend provide access to the house, and the same friend, who is also does some contracting, commented when the job was finished, that Mark had done an excellent job, and that he would not hesitate to recommend Mark to anyone. The estimate that Mark provided was exactly on budget. When you are selecting a contractor out of town, there has to be an element of trust involved and I could not be more pleased that I chose Benson Builders to complete this job. Mark was accommodating and very easy to do business with.

Mark Benson has done multiple projects at my residence. In 2004 when I had damage to the side of house and roof and at the same time he installed covers for my gutters. The workmanship was outstanding, he completed job ahead time excepted and quality of the work was top notch. Mark goes above and beyond when completing a project shows up on time, the quality the work he does is outstanding. The area where the work was performed looks cleaner after the job than before. In 2018 I had a leak in a skylight which he resolved the problem, he would send emails after a rain to check on skylight leak. He notice my front door was not shutting correctly and he repair my front door and front storm door they both work better now than they have ever worked in the past. I would recommend Mark Benson for any job large or small he take pride in the work.

One of the best home improvement experiences I have ever had. I wanted a new storm door installed on the front of my house. Mark responded to my initial request promptly. He gave me three options of where to view a variety of doors. I got back to him with the door I wanted and he gave me an estimate of the cost and the time to order and receive the door. He actually got the door ahead of his time estimate and installed it within a week. I was more than pleased with the job he did and he also followed up with another visit to see how I liked the door and completed a little touch up. High recommend.

Mark Benson responded to a harrowing emergency after a tree fell on our Cape Cod home last fall. He not only provided immediate tarping and safety repairs ; he also gave us detailed and accurate estimates for us to send to the insurance company. When the work began, Mark subcontracted roofing and flooring services to excellent tradespeople; he used the best of electrical, insulation and painting supplies; he was polite and respectful of our personal space throughout. Most important, his craftsmanship -- and that of his team -- were outstanding. Benson Builders replaced the leaking roof and skylights on our porch. They solved the leaks and mold problems by installing a rubber membrane under the shingles and around the skylights, and by installing attic vents. The work was efficiently and professionally done in a few days and they carefully cleaned up afterwards.

Mr. Benson installed 26 Anderson 400 windows at our vacation home on Cape Cod, including painting of all trim inside and out . We are thrilled with the outcome. He is meticulous with the details, keeps the workplace exceptionally clean, and worked tirelessly to complete the job. Mark came through again! During the 4 'Noreasters we had water/wind damage. Mark came out and secured the house from further damage and gave us a detailed quote for the insurance company. During his visit he noticed rot around our front door. We knew it was an issue, but had no idea as to the extent. We hired Mark to start on the repairs. He was very upfront with the possibility of potential hidden damage. As it turned out the rot was so extensive it reached from the base of the outer columns to the tip of the circle top window! By the time all was said and done we had a brand new, properly built and secured front entry. He showed us the reason for this mess we were in. Extremely poor workmanship was to blame when the house was initially built. Mark's passion for getting it right coupled with his quality workmanship has restored our beautiful entryway. We are grateful, yet again, to have access to such an honest and qualified builder. I have one experience with Benson Builders, Inc. A repair was made on a serious leak around the central chimney of our house. Water stains on ceilings of 1st and 2nd floors. Water would even run all the way to basement floor. Mark Benson spent one day replacing flashing and shingles. Since completion the work has been tested by several rain storms and high winds. No leaks! I can now repair water damage and paint. Mark is professional in work and business habits. I recommend him without hesitation.

I found Benson Builders to be a very responsive and thoroughly detailed builder. Recently my elderly mother's home on the shore was showing major rot on the support structure under her enclosed porch. Being very concerned about its safety and possible collapse, I contacted Mark Benson who was highly recommended by a neighbor who used Benson Builders for all of her renovation work. Mark came out himself within hours and assessed the damage. The same day he installed temporary support columns and then performed a full analysis of the rot and we worked out a repair plan. The whole effort dealing with Mark gave us peace of mind knowing we were in good hands and had his personal attention. I had always admired the work done on my neighbor's home but had never dealt with Mark before. Mark Benson has done several projects for our family in our homes and businesses over the last 20 or more years. He is the most precise talented man. He installed new windows along the entire front of our house that was over 50 years old at the time. He managed to rebuild the interior woodwork around all those windows perfectly as if they had been the original windows. He has done assorted rehab projects in our businesses as well over the years. Mark remolded a large portion of my waterfront home. He raised the roof and built a whole new second floor including new closets, a remolded bathroom, and all new windows and doors. He also remolded the first floor family room creating a vaulted ceiling and new windows. He also built a new set of stairs to our front door. All the work was done to perfection. Mark was working at a neighbor's who had a similar issue with her Andersen sliding doors - wind getting through the seals. He came by to check on my specific issue and then brought by an exert with these doors. They both came back to replace the older material and tighten spaces where possible. Mark checked with me soon after the project was done but I was away and missed the first wind storm. However, when I got back home in time for one of our Cape blizzards, the wind direction was not the usual and I did still have an issue. Mark made arrangements to come back over and suggested a different approach to supplement the first one. He was back in a few days and his suggestion has solved the issue and saved me from replacing very expensive doors. Mark's follow-up and problem solving skills are very much appreciated.

Mark Benson did my kitchen renovation a few years ago and it exceeded our expectations for quality and value so when the large back deck on my dad's house needed replacement, we chose him. It started out as a simple job but when he removed the old deck, we discovered a large amount of rot because the original deck had not been weatherstripped. Over 30+ years, the wind driven rain had caused the entire back of the house to suffer substantial damage. Mark carefully explained the work that needed to be done and he turned out an outstanding product. (see the photos of the composite deck with the glass panels on his web page). One element of this story, however, deserves special mention. After the deck was installed, a strange whistling noise could be heard whenever the wind would blow from the southwest. After some detective work, Mark discovered that the wind was vibrating the deck boards and making the noise. He went to the manufacturer of the deck boards and was able to have them provide a completely enclosed under-deck system that eliminated the noise and actually added value and ambiance to the underside of the deck...all for no cost to us. I would highly recommend Mark for his professionalism, his quality, the competitive pricing and his timeliness, but most of all, his integrity.

Mark has been doing all of our home improvements and upkeep for approximately the last 20 years. Some of this work includes refinishing the upstairs, adding two rear decks, replacing all original windows and outside doors, renovating a downstairs bathroom , and adding a kitchen/dining area extension to the original house. All of his work is done with the kind of care that he would put into his own home. We especially get many compliments on the beautiful trim work in our new kitchen/dining area.
