I have worked with the Carey Reid Kirk company for over 30 years. The projects include decorating and furnishing a Virginia country home, decorating and furnishing a Washington, DC brownstone, furnishing a Washington, DC co-op, coordinating paint surfaces, lighting, drapery fabrics and furnishing a Naples, FL condo and, lastly, detailing furniture choices for a Manhattan co-op. Some projects required personal visits and some decisions were made with the added assistance of photos and design center fabrics shipped to me at each location. In each project, I could choose to be totally involved in the preliminary decisions or I could relay that responsibility to Mr Kirk and request that he submit a final proposal. He is very careful to ascertain the level of interaction with the client. He is an expert at discerning the style I wished to convey with the finished project. I can recommend him without any reservations.

Shortly after moving into our home we engaged Carey Reid Kirk (CRK), Inc. to redesign our kitchen and the surrounding area to make better use of the space available and to incorporate a number of professional grade appliances. The existing kitchen had relatively new (8 years old) semi-custom cabinets we wanted to retain to manage costs but the rest was up to CRK. After spending a bit of time getting to know our tastes and preferences, CRK thoughtfully laid out a new kitchen arrangement which incorporated our existing cabinets, added 6 more base cabinets and increased counter space over 35 square feet. CRK helped us pick out granite counters, a butcher block island, wall colors, lighting, furniture and probably a few more items I'm missing. CRK handled all the arrangements with the vendors and coordinated material deliveries to work with our installation schedule. One area we really appreciated was Carey's advice and experience in making the best use of our budget and selecting products that met our needs and tastes. Lastly, although outside of the original scope, CRK help us pick colors for the rooms adjoining the kitchen and the entire rest of the house. We would not hesitate to recommend CRK for any remodeling project.

I have known and done business with Carey for over 20 years now. He has always been very professional and particular. The smallest detail is always considered and taken care of. I would, and have, recommended Carey to anyone looking for professional design work. His knowledge, expertise and ability to communicate are exceptional.

I have known Carey for many years and he has helped me with two of my own homes and several investment properties in the Kent Island and Annapolis area. I could not be more pleased with his work. He understands what I'm looking for and finds it! He is the consummate professional, is easy to work with, and handles tough situations with good humor! He has helped with a renovation, fireplace design, and furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and countertop selections, as well as lighting and other fixtures. When the contractor says, “How do you want…?” My answer is, “Don’t ask me, call Carey.” One great example of his knowledge and insight: I wanted to change my bedroom to a light gray color and thought it would be no big deal. I’d just by a few a color samples, put them on the wall and make a selection. Wrong. After 10 samples that turned out to be too blue, too purple, too white, to yellow, too putty…. I called Carey. He hit the exact right color on the first selection. It’s on the walls now. I don't waste my time, I just call Carey.

My husband and I moved into a new house which was completely different style from our old one--colonial to mid-century modern. We couldnt agree on anything and we required completely new furniture. We wanted the home to look elegant but not fussy or cluttered. We also had a limited budget. We needed a professional decorator to work through these challenges. We thought of the home we admired of some friends and asked them who they used. It was Carey, so we contacted him. Carey has since developed a complete plan for our house which has many design challenges because of some unique angles. He transformed our dining room and living rooms. We have furniture that makes each room completely functional but also has the beautiful design we wanted. The rooms look fully integrated. He used the shape of the rug in our living room to make the room feel larger but also intimate. It was a design execution that no one but a professional could have accomplished. Our all glass dining room needed a warmer feel. The chairs and table Carey recommended were perfect. We can also use the dining chairs for extra seating in the living room without them looking out of place. We are going to continue to work with Carey on the rest of our home because of his professional skills and easy to work with style.

Carey Kirk is one of the leading designers in the Maryland and Washington DC area. I have known and worked with Carey for years and his calm and cheerful presence always prevails, even over some difficult design challenges. I would say that his design acumen meshes well with a variety of clientele and tastes because he gives his clients what they are looking for, not what he is looking for, which I think is essential in quality design.

I have had the pleasure of working with Carey numerous times. He is very knowlegeable on a variety of designing/decorating techniques that complement and work with my specific tastes. He completely designed and renovated my bathroom utilizing minimal space in a beautiful marble that will last forever. His staff was competent with great attitudes. His help with furniture choices has guided me with a beautiful home to entertain and live comfortably. He keeps an eye on costs, as well as detail. I would highly reccommend using the excellent services of Carey Reid Kirk inc!

Upon recommendation from a friend, I hired Carey when we moved into our home in Georgetown. I had never hired a designer but knew I needed help blending our tastes with the style of the home. After meeting with us and listening carefully to our desires, he found the perfect furnishings for us and all within our budget. In addition, he advised on wall colors after spending time in the rooms observing the light and way we live. Recently, when looking for new living room furniture, I called on him again and once more, he delivered! I love Carey's manner: always respectful, considerate, creative and a great listener, even when we weren't sure what we were saying! He is a pleasure to work with.

Carey has assisted in renovating and decorating throughout our two-bedroom 125-year-old town house, including a complete renovation of the kitchen and replacement of the garden deck with a new design. We have worked with Carey over the course of 25 years. In working with us, he has always been able to identify wallpapers, fabrics, and designs that meet our tastes and budget, and to have the work performed promptly and correctly. Carey can provide and closely supervise contractors, etc., which makes a project easy and enjoyable. We highly recommend him.

I've worked with Carey on a variety of projects over the last dozen+ years. He's great fun to work with and the results are phenomenal. Each of my projects was different in content, scope and budget. One was assisting in the design of a new contemporary house, another redoing a townhouse, another furnishing a traditional formal room and yet another time, a cozy family room. Carey always had great ideas exactly on point to what I needed. I've never run into anyone who knew more about where to get exactly the right fabric, wall covering, or furniture. He listens very well and he presents options with a sufficiently wide range to ensure my input finds its way into the final project. I come away with fabulous spaces that have obviously had professional help but remain my own style and personality.

My recommendation of Carey Reid Kirk is without reservation. He has a wonderful design aesthetic, and at the same time works well within a budget. Color, space planning, furniture selection, window treatment design, accessory purchases, styling....he does it all, and does it all perfectly!! Carey is painstaking in his attention to details. He is attentive, adheres to schedules and is a terrific communicator. His ethics are beyond reproach. He has a lot of positive energy, is a consummate professional, and a true pleasure with whom to work. We have worked together on many projects over the past 25 years: in Washington, DC, New York City, and Millbrook, NY. I have never been disappointed in him or in his work.

Carey Kirk did design for our house in 1990 and then for our new apartment in 2009. He understood our desires and made our homes very beautiful. he was a pleasure to work with.
